Belated fb here. When the ep originally aired, I was so very annoyed at
the reduction of Willow's role to "Wicca who Wonta"--I'm very firmly in
the "enough with the magic, give me Willow back!" camp (albeit possibly
all by myself on this one)--that I had a hard time digesting a fic
where Will herself buys into that theory.

But, with time, I can see that as just Willow not wanting to let Buffy
down, to do whatever she can. And if Buffy isn't able to accept a
Willow who's so much more than just a witch, well then that's just the
same thing as Buffy not being able to give Will the wholehearted love
she needs.  

Although I don't think it has anything to do with Slayerdom, since
Season 1-3 Buffy would have been able to do both in an eyeblink.

Oh, well, here's hoping Buffy gets severely slapped upside the head in
those five eps I'm not watching, and gets back to being the Buffy I used
to know and love. And in the meantime, good work.
