Willow watched the young girl walked away with her ex and then turned
to stare into the eyes of the woman that used to hold a special place
in her life. Buffy looked at the cold empty green eyes, trying to see
a spark of the shy computer hacker that had disappeared two years ago.
"Willow", she started but was cut off by the watcher.
"I really have nothing to say to you right now", Willow said and
started to walk away.
Buffy grabbed her arm and spun her around, "Well guess what, that's
to damn bad. I have some things I want to say to you."
"Back off, slayer. I don't give a shit whether you walked away from
the council or not. I am still a watcher and as such you will treat
me with some respect."
"And do I need to remind you that without slayers you guys are pretty
much nothing, so don't take that stand with me. Willow, please lets
not do this."
"Do what", Willow yelled stepping closer to the blonde slayer.
Buffy took a step back not wanting to engage in a
confrontation, "Fight?I heard what you told Dawn. I would never have
let you stay in that place if I would have known. It makes me sick
just thinking about it."
Willow snorted and stepped back, "Well imagine how I feel then. Leave
it alone. I really just want to beat this bitch and go home."
"And Dawn, where does she fit into all this. Will, he said she was
our daughter, ours", Buffy said pointing between the two of them.
"I don't know."
"Well you'd better find out because if you hurt her, I will kill you."
"If I hurt her, you'll have to stand in line behind me", Willow said
and took off across the park.

The bell above the door of the Magic Box rang as Buffy walked back
into the shop after her talk with Willow in the park. She was tired
and mentally exhausted from the last few months.
"Hey", Tara said softly coming up behind her.
Buffy wiped the tears from her eyes and turned to look at her
friend, "Hey, man is it ever gonna let up?"
"Dawn told us about what Willow said, did you talk to her?"
"Not really. Tara she's so cold and distant, I'm not sure I'll ever
be able to reach her."
"You love her don't you?", Tara asked taking the blonde slayers hand
into her own.
"I don't know anything right now and I need to concentrate on keeping
Dawn safe. What I feel for Willow will have to wait until we don't
have the fate of the world on our shoulders."
"Just know that no matter what happens I'll be here for you", Tara
said pulling her into a warm hug.
Buffy pulled out the hug and tried to pull herself together before
facing the rest of the gang, " Tara did you find anything out about
this ritual Willow wants to do?"
"I thought it sounded familiar but it didn't click until Dawnie told
me what Willow told her", Tara said and then spent the next twenty
minutes filling the rest of them in on the ritual to summons a gods
powers.
"It could kill her", Buffy asked shaking her head in disbelief.
"Yeah", Dawn whispered, afraid of losing another part of her family.
"Well she can't do it", Buffy said and began to pace around the
room, "I won't let her."
Faith started to giggle, the giggle turning into a full blown belly
laugh, "You're kidding right. That's so cute."
"What the hell are you talking about", Buffy growled, frustrated with
the slayer's laughing.
"And you think you can stop her." Faith asked casually, her black
leather boots still propped up on the research table.
"Well yeah", Buffy answered.
Faith tried to contain her laughter, "Honey, I've never ran across
anyone since we left the hospital that could tell Red what to do. You
try to tell her she can't do this and you'll be picking yourself off
your ass, if you're lucky enough to be able to get up. She may be the
only chance we have of wining this. Red, has studied with some of the
most powerful witches in the world. If she can't do it then no one
can."
"I don't like this at all", Buffy sighed but knowing in her heart
that Faith was right. "Tara, are you sure there isn't anything else?
Another spell we could we use....something?"
"I don't know Buffy, I'll l-look over the texts again"
"Thanks Tara" Buffy joined Faith at the research table.
With that, Tara got up to walked to back off the store. Faith's eyes
watched her walk away unconsciously licking her lips. She leaned into
Buffy with a glint in her eye and an almost devilish grin, "So what's
Tara's story?"
Buffy, noticing a look on Faith something akin to the
infamous 'slayer lust' she had to deal with herself issued a firm
warning, "Don't even think about it Faith!"
"Okay, okay....I get it, hands off the hot witch" She decided to let
it go for now. She'd known that her Red was slowly slipping away from
her. It was something that hurt her fiercely, but even she knew that
at least while they
were in Sunnydale, there would probably be little or no physical
contact between them. 'No reason I can't make friends while I'm here'
already deciding in her mind to ignore the warning of her
counterpoint slayer.
