Hi!

I'm back :)

Wrote something new for you, letting my inner comic book nerd out to
play.

Prelude: Secret Origins

There was heat and sparks and then there was the distinct sound of
hissing steel, as the liquid red hot mental was poured into the
mold. The computers spat out endless readings concerning surface
temperature, contents, quantum fluxes and cooling times. Although
Willow had promised Giles never to tamper with some of the more
extreme sciences and primal magiks again, she had made no promises
about the use of her bulging brains to even the playing field.
Swiping a bead of sweat from her forehead and tugging an errand
strand of red hair back into its braid she stared into the furnace
and poured a small about of magnesium into the mix.

How the times had changed. The winds of time had blown through her
life and brought her to a different city and into a different world.
A world of brightly colored spandex and amazing powers. She had felt
that urge again a few days ago when a silver and gold streak had
passed by her office window. Memories of glory days long since past
and deeds done in the name of the greater good at bubbled to the
front of her mind. Memories of the days before she'd become chained
to a desk.

The desk was that of the president of Whirlwind Laboratories, the
company she'd build from the ground up without much help from
anybody except her mentor Giles. It was now the third largest
technology firm in the city and employed a close to a thousand
people just in it's home state, although many never knew that they
were working for W. Labs.

As her latest creation cooled, she looked at her monitors for a view
of the world outside. Light City, or simply The City, was a bright
city of the 21st century, with soaring spires and it was a hub of
commerce and politics for large part of the country. It was also a
city of superheroes, people that had started popping up around the
same time she'd started getting into the paranormal. One by one they
had come, first slowly, but now more and more emerged every year,
showing up everywhere from coast to coast and news about boomers on
other continents were the stable of late night news shows. She had a
theory why this was all happening, although she didn't share it with
anybody at this stage.

Her city had a guardian, of sorts, a towering titan of gold and
silver that kept it safe. Guardian had been one of the first
superheroes to go public or to come out of the spandex closet as she
liked to think of it. He was a bit like her old friend Buffy from
what she could discerns from the news reports, both enormously
strong and blessed with the powers of flight and light. It was the
brief glimpse of him from her office window that made her decide
that she could and should get back in the game.

Turning to her other creations she smiled at herself, the strength-
enhancers had been the first part she had designed and actually
built, the antigravity unit had been the next idea that had
flickered across her hyperactive mind. The end results would one day
be a armor, albeit at this stage only the strength enhancing
exoskeleton that would increase her strength and grand her the power
of flight, via anti-grav boots, along with the all concealing
helmet, were the only parts completed. Into the helmet she'd build a
state of the art computer and to assist her further she had created
Jeeves.

Jeeves was a state of the art artificial intelligent that rested
within the W. Labs mainframe. He was matriculate, made sure she ate,
slept and bathed when Giles wasn't around and it was oh so British
that it sometimes hurt. He also operated the suits deployment
system. She'd soon realized that she needed a quick means of getting
into the suite and out of it and since you didn't exactly wear an
exoskeleton not to mention a hundred pound armor under a business
suite, a solution was needed. Thus the Suite Deployment System, SDS
for short, was created as a part of a W. Labs teleportation research
and development project.

Everything was falling into place, and now she just needed a chance
to test the technology. With a gloved hand she lifted the hammer
she'd just forged from the cooling unit and she grinned. The creator
fights not with a sword, but with a hammer and this hammer, like the
Mjolnir of Norse mythology, had some interesting extras build into
it. Soon she would be back in the game that was if Giles didn't find
out and send her on a tour of the W. Labs facilities in the
Himalayas for a the next quarter.

Willow Rosenberg, founder and president of W. Labs, pulled on her
jacket and placed the hammer into the SDS along with the parts that
were built, ready to be deployed by a single call to Jeeves if need
be. The computer peeped that a board meeting was coming up and
Willow the executive was off.
