Re: Re: Something I've noticed

>Yeah, well so did Buffy and Spike.

Which basically explains why I can't enjoy W/F at all. (Unless it's
early-S3-set.) The idea that homicidal violence is nothing but a cover
for desire (something which, btw, is a Season Sux retcon for B/S--prior
to that, Buffy has such palpable non-interest in Spike that it makes her
reactions to *Xander* seem like drooling lust by comparison) is quite
squicky, IMO. And since B/S seemed to me a cheap, desperate attempt to
recapture the B/A ratings by a company that was out of ideas, and since
Joss took an enormous shit over all the other characters to make St.
Cheekbones look good by comparison, the use of B/S (aka "the very
appropriately initialled 'ship") as an argument for another relationship
is one that won't work well for me.

(Buffy and Faith--a relationship of on-camera flirtation and sexual
tension that declined into violence, with Buffy clearly hurt and still
reaching out--is a far cry from Dumbslut and the Peroxide Stalker, I
believe.)

I could get into F/W reconnecting and Faith eventually working to win
Will's love in S4-5, but after B/S it just feels dirty. The idea that
BOTH Buffy and Willow are such pathetic losers that they would fall for
people who tried to disembowel them makes my gorge do flip-flops. And
don't get me started on post-BadHairWillow "we've both sinned, so let's
be REDEEMED! (HALLELUJAH!) together" fics. Bleah.
