Mulder and Scully got into their rented car and headed for the 
police station which was several miles away from city hall.Scully 
started up the car and then she said get thinking Mulder we are going 
to need a reliable cover story that the police will believe if the 
guy they are holding is indeed Krychek.Mulder thought good and long 
for two minutes and then he said i have one but let me try it out on 
you since you have a very logical and insightfull mind.Scully said go 
ahead I'm listening.Mulder said we tell them that he is a former 
reporter that became obsessed with us and our cases.Scully said i 
dont think they will buy that.Mulder said hold on and let me 
finish.Mulder said he follows us around because he sees conspiracies 
everywhere and believes it is our job to cover up the conspiracies 
whether they are the work of the goverment or not.Scully said its 
more believable but i am still not sure they will buy it.Mulder said 
ok tell me its weakpoints and I'll work on them.Scully said well for 
one thing it isnt normal for people whether they were reporters or 
not to go armed to a police station to get information from them 
while being armed with a gun and other weapons.Mulder said your right 
and he thought on it for a minute.Mulder said ok he was a former 
investigative reporter and he started carrying weapons around because 
on several of the cases he trailed us along got quite dangerous.
Scully said he got wounded on one of the cases and now goes armed so 
he can protect himself.Mulder said yes and we can also say that he 
uses stilletos to leave us messages or let us know he is still 
hanging around.Scully said but where would he do that.Mulder said oh 
he would either leave a stilletto in one of our rental car's tires or 
stuck in the wall of one of the motel rooms we're using.Scully said 
its really believable but there is still one big hole in the 
story.Mulder said and what is that.Scully said how is it that he is 
able to follow us where ever we go.Mulder grinned slyly and he said 
he has a source in the FBI somewhere that we are trying to locate 
which is why we are going to take him off the cops hands.Scully said 
damn thats a brilliant idea and one they will easily buy since 
everyone knows that there are always leaks in the FBI.

When Mulder and Scully reached the police station Scully parked the 
car in the nearest available parking space to the front entrance.As 
they walked into the police station the desk sergeant said go on back 
Captain Mathews is expecting you he should be in his office.They 
walked into the back area after the door was buzzed open by the desk 
sergeant.They headed straight for where the offices the police 
captains used and Mulder said i wonder if we are going to meet one of 
the other police captain's today.Scully said i dont think we are 
because the only office with the lights on is the one Captain Mathews 
uses.Mulder said but Captain Mathews is supposed to work nights at 
least thats what we were told.Scully said we can ask him when we get 
in there.

Scully knocked on the door to Captain Mathew's office which was 
shut.Captain Mathews said enter while turning to see who it 
was.Mulder and Scully walked into the office and Captain Mathews 
stood up and held out his hand.After they shook his hand Captain 
Mathews said you too sure did get here quick i only called the FBI's 
office in Los Angeles less than fifteen minutes ago.Mulder said we 
were already in Sunnydale when we got the call from Agent Ruchars and 
we headed here immedietly.Captain Mathews said i take it that you two 
are interested in the man who came pretending to be a reporter or do 
you know him.Scully said we believe we may know who it is that you 
have but we cant be certain until we see him for ourselves.Captain 
Mathews said can you tell me who he is and why he would be looking 
into the case your working on.Mulder said if its who we think it is 
His name is Krychek.Scully said Krychek is a former investigative 
reporter who became obsessed with us and the cases we work which is 
why he was fired from the news station he worked for.Captain Mathews 
said why is he obsessed with you and your cases and can you explain 
why he would come here armed while pretending to still be a reporter 
to get information on your case.Mulder said he sees conspiracies 
everywhere and he believes it is our job to cover conspiracies up 
whether they are the work of the goverment or not.Scully said as to 
why he would come armed all i can say is that he has been hurt more 
than once while following us on our cases.Captain Mathews said i 
guess he got tired of that and started arming himself with the 
weapons he had.Mulder said yes i agree with your assumption and if 
you will please have someone show us to where he is we can find out 
if its Krychek or not.Captain Mathews said what if it isnt Krychek 
what do you want us to do with him then.Scully said if it isnt 
Krychek just let him go and let us do the rest.Captain Mathews looked 
at Scully and he said what do you mean by that.Mulder said we will 
follow him from a distance and see if he leads us to Krychek which is 
pretty likely.Captain Mathews said why do you say that.Scully said 
because in the past couple months Krychek or possibly someone he 
brought in to help him has left stilletos in the tires of our rental 
cars or stuck in the walls of one of our motel rooms just to let us 
know that someone is out there watching us.Captain Mathews said I'll 
lead you down there personally and i hope this guy is Krychek.Scully 
said so do we because if he is we will be able to find out who his 
source in the FBI is.Captain Mathews understood what she meant and he 
said i guess you will be taking him off our hands if that is the 
case.Mulder said oh yes and we will escort him to Los Angeles where 
we will arrange for a couple friends of ours to take him off our 
hands so he can be taken back to the east coast where he will be 
pumped for information by agents very familiar with him.

Four minutes later Captain Mathews led Mulder and Scully down to the 
holding cell that Krychek was in.Captain Mathews looked at Mulder and 
Scully and he said is this him.Krychek who was in a cell alone turned 
to see who it was and he was rather unhappy at seeing Mulder and 
Scully standing next to the cop.Mulder said yes Captain Mathews he is 
indeed Krychek.Scully turned to face Captain Mathews and she said how 
soon can we take him off your hands.Captain Mathews said you can take 
him any time you like we didnt book him just held him on 
suspicion.Mulder grinned at Krychek and he said get ready Krychek you 
are going to come with us.Captain Mathews said I'll have his stuff 
brought to you but when do you want to take him.Mulder said we will 
take him right now but you can keep the gun and other weapons he had 
he isnt licensed to carry them.Scully said Captain Mathews i suggest 
you have the gun examined i am pretty sure that the serial numbers on 
the gun will have been removed as well.Captain Mathews said ok but 
what about his clothes do you want to let him have them back.Mulder 
said oh no there is a chance that he might have something hidden in 
them that was missed in your search because its made of plastic or 
wood.Captain Mathews said follow me back to my office I'll have some 
of my men bring him up to us in a few minutes.

After Mulder and Scully followed Captain Mathews back to his office 
Krychek started cursing like a sailor in both english and 
russian.Krychek said damn i am in one hell of a situation now and 
then he said Hartwell you damn well better be out there watching my 
back like you promised you would.A second later Ronnie Strickland who 
was in the cell across from the one Krychek is in sat up and he said 
oh he is and he isnt the only one.Krychek was shocked to see him and 
he said what the hell are you doing here.Ronnie said the sherriff 
thought something might go wrong so he had me get myself caught by 
the police so that we would have someone on the inside.Krychek said i 
dont care how you do it but you get word to Hartwell that he has to 
get me away from Mulder and Scully as soon as possible.Ronnie said 
dont worry he will do that but he will wait until the timing is right 
which i am sure you know.Krychek said yeah and then he said hey you 
know this sort of bring backs memories.Ronnie Strickland looked at 
Krychek and he said yeah its almost exactly like the situation aboard 
the ship that brought us to Roanoke in 1587.Krychek said yeah i was 
sure the sailors were going to either throw me overboard or hang me 
for witchcraft.Ronnie said yeah and if me and the rest of our group 
had known you were immortal we would have hidden you below decks 
before you came back from the dead.
