RE: "and he proudly named Willow."

I've read a couple of interviews about Tara's death with Joss and
several other of the decision making people. At first I hated them for
killing Tara 'coz I really loved her and Amber's performance. I slowly
came to the realization that my opinion is not Mr. Whedon's first
priority and that he apparently wanted the character of Willow to become
evil and used the thing that was most important to her, her lover (I was
screaming: "What about Buffy and Xander? Aren't they important to her?"
But then realized he would have killed on of them off if Tara hadn't
been there and I forgave him).
So I made my peace with Tara's death (especially after I read that she
was supposed to be killed at the end of fifth season, but Joss didn't
want to let her go). The things that I was still mad about were that she
was a) killed in the bedroom she and Willow had constantly made love for
the last two days and b) that she was shot through the heart which was
just a bit too symbolical for me. The next interview I read promptly
stated that in hindsight they realized that those weren't the best of
actions and that, if they had the chance, they'd do those parts
differently. I was feeling generous and allowed them to be humans and
make mistakes.
I know that Joss sometimes just says what he thinks the audience wants
to hear and that not all of his words are the utter truth, but this is
the reality I choose to accept ;)

I agree with you Zoe. Personally I was proud of how well Joss handled
killing off Tara. It was bound to happen eventually in keeping with the

no-permanently-happy-scoobies-factor. I would have thought much less of

them if Wil and tara were deleriously happy while their friends worlds
were
falling to shit. It allowed willow to grow as a character which I
applaud
but also the fact that he allowed her to grieve and showed us her grief.

Not just the destroy the world anger but also the graveside grief and
the
finding new love grief. Unlike certain shows like ER where this season
Kerry
got pregnant and five episodes later had lost the baby but we know
nothing
about it except her telling one of the other doctors. Had it been one
of
the straight couples on the show there would have been a ten episode arc

about the baby. I applaud Joss for treating Will and Tara the way he
treatede the other couples in his show. Face it none of them were
happy.
