re: Re: OT Threesomes

Okay, my turn to weigh in on the issue, I suppose.

I am guilty of threesome writing myself. I wrote some B/W/T (The Third Power and part of the round robin Rising From The Wreckage) as well as some fill-in stories for Tony McD's B/W/X Terra Australis Incognito. I don't object to threesomes, as long as they're well-written, not PWP, and make sense from the context of the story. That's why I don't do B/W/S(which I understand do exist), or other three-ships.

Actually, the oddest multi-ship I remember was Kevin Beckett's "Militat Omnes Amans" ("Every Lover Is A Warrior"), where Buffy and Willow, who are already together at the start of the show, travel to an alternate universe where they're called upon to save that world from demonic invasion. During the story they end up hooking up with a pair of women, Bridie and Aoefe(the whole story is steeped in Celtic stuff).

I can understand why people may not approve of reading polyamorous relationships or not, but I figure if we all play nice and remember to lable all threesome fics as such(either on the subject line of the letter or in the disclaimer) those who disapprove may easily skip over them.

Mike, Tony, I for one look forward to more chapters of The House of Scoobies, not for the B/W/X angle(although I do enjoy that), but because you've created an entertaining alternate version of Seasons two and three. If it were just Buffy, Willow and Xander boinking while Joyce is out of the house, I'd probably delete the thing without reading further. Buffy and Willow are still central to the story so that dynamic is there, but Xander also is vital to the storyline. Me, I always say B/X as the hetero version of B/X; best friends discovering a deeper bond.

Me, I will only write a threesome if the third party(Tara or Xander in the above cases) contributes something that the other two can't do alone. Some aspect, be it Tara's gentle motherly wisdom or Xander's common sense attitude, that Buffy and Willow may be missing alone. It doesn't work in all fics, but in some it can.

Okay, that's all I have to say on the matter. Just remember, if you want to make it three to tango, just mention it in advance, we'll all be happier that way.

"Friends are the DNA of society. They are the basic building blocks of life. If you have a couple of good ones, treasure them like gold. There's nothing better. Ever look at that MCI ad they have, "Friends and Family"? Who do they mention first? Your friends help you carry the big weight in life. That big burden we've all got called, 'What the Hell am I doing?'"
