FIC: The red headed Slayer 9/?
Author: Jen D
Disclaimer: I don't own just like it.
Rating: G-R and all points between mostly language and violence
Pairing: Willow/ Buffy
Spoilers: I guess all of the shows this is A/U but some of it might
come up.
Willow slipped quietly down the tunnel until she came to the ruins
of the old buried church. She stomped down the fear that was
threatening to boil over at the sight of the grotesque vampire
standing in the middle of the room.
"Well I see you made it past my welcoming committee up top?"
He
hissed watching as the Slayer crept further into the ruins.
"You'd think someone as powerful as you would have smarter
people. I
mean one of the idiots staked himself. I have to say it made my
day."
Willow chuckled.
"Well it's so hard to get good help these days, I take what I
can
find."
"It's just you and I now," Willow said taking a quick
look around. "I
like to say that I love what you've done with the place but
dusty,
buried church was so yesterday."
"Oh goody a Slayer with a sense of humor, that's such a rare
quality.
All the others I've run across have been so boring and dull. No
character, just kill, kill, kill."
"Yeah well I'm not like any you've ever faced before but
I do plan on
killing you," Willow said firing the crossbow.
The Master caught the bolt just before it had a chance to slid into
his heart, "I guess our little talk is over then. I was just
about to
ask if wanted to join me for some tea."
"As much as I liked to take advantage of your hospitality, I
really
would rather we get this over with. I have a family to get back
to."
The master slipped into the shadows, "Funny and polite, you know
it's
almost a shame to kill you. Almost."
Willow spun around trying to follow the sound of his voice through
the shadows.
"Maybe I could just turn you, let you kill that pretty little
family
you want to get back to. I have a question for you though. Which one
will you choose for a mate, the young blonde who makes your blood
boil or the blonde witch that you fuck regularly?" The Master
asked
dodging the stake that buzzed through the air.
"Fuck you," Willow growled loading the crossbow again.
"Come on, you
chicken shit. Show yourself and fight me like a man. Are you afraid
of me?" Willow yelled, scanning the darkness.
The Master slipped up behind her, knocking the weapon from her hand
and bringing the struggling Slayer to him, "I thought you said
you
were going to fight me?"
Jenny and Tara set up the protection spell over the Giles'
house. Tara watched the pacing blonde teenager, "Jenny can you
hold
this?"
"Yeah, I just needed your help to get it going. What do you have
planned?" Jenny asked seeing the resolved look in her friends
face.
"I'm going to go look for Willow."
"She told you to stay here," Jenny sighed knowing that it was
useless
to talk Tara out of going but needing to at least try.
"No, she told me to protect her family and I have. You can hold
up
the spell and I can go help her stay alive," Tara said throwing
her
jacket on.
"I going with you," Buffy stated and began to follow the
witch.
"Buffy," Joyce called.
"Mom, I have to go. I don't think I could live with myself if
I don't
try to help."
"I know and I hate it. I was going to tell you to be careful,
that
your father and I love you."
"I know and I love you too. We'll make it back," Buffy
said, hugging
her mother close.
Tara hugged Joyce, "I'll keep her safe. She's my first
priority. Will
would kill me if I let anything happed to her."
Buffy walked up to her two best friends, "Guys, do me a favor,
take
care of my mom. She loves you both like you were her own."
"We know, Buff. Take care of yourself and come back to us,"
Xander
said wiping the tears off his face with the back of his hand.
Cordelia pulled her boyfriend close trying to comfort him, "Good
luck, go save your girl."
"Tara, I&" Jenny started.
"I know you don't have to say it. I love you too and that
scares me,"
Tara said.
Tears welled in Jenny eyes and threatened to spill over,
"I'll wait
as long as you need me to."
"Ready Buffy?" Tara asked.
"Yup as ready as I'll ever be," Buffy said and followed
Tara out into
the cool night.
Willow struggled, consciousness beginning to fade as the master
held her off the ground by the throat. `I can not let them
down', she
thought as she gritted her teeth, pictures of the people that she
loved flashed through her mind.
"Such a shame that I can't drain you dry myself, it has been
way to
long since I've tasted the blood of the Slayer. Oh well watching
the
life flow from you will be almost just as fun," he said as he
pulled
the short blade from his boot.
Willow couldn't hold the cry of pain as he buried the knife into
her
side. Relief washed over her face when she remembered the hidden
stake in her inside jacket. She called on the last of her reserve and
resolve, kicking the Master in the chest.
"So the little girl has some fight left in her," he hissed,
dropping
her to maintain his balance.
Willow fell to her hands and knees, watching as he regained his
footing and stepped toward her again. Her fingers wrapped around the
smooth wooden stake as she stumbled to her feet. "This ends here
with
me," she growled and lunged for the vampire.
"Ok witch girl, now that we're out here, how are we gonna
find Will?"
Buffy asked her companion.
"Magic." Tara sat down in the grass and began to chant in a
language
she didn't recognize. Suddenly a tiny light formed in front of
her
and started off down the street. "Come on," Tara said taking
off in a
run after the light.
Buffy watched as the light bobbed and dart through the dark cemetery
and came to stop over a manhole cover that had been removed.
"Down here," Tara said and moved to go down.
Buffy touched her arm, stopping her, "Tara, before we go down
there I
just want to say thanks."
"For what, Buff?"
"For this, for wanting to help and protect her. For loving her,
being
there until I can."
"I think I can handle it. Loving her is pretty easy to do. Lets
go
get your girl," Tara said disappearing down the hole.
Buffy dropped down beside her and crinkled her nose, "Oh man it
stinks down here."
Despite the seriousness of the situation Tara could help but giggle
and agree. They walked down the tunnel slowly scanning the darkness
for trouble. They saw a faint glow just ahead.
"I guess that's the light at the end of the tunnel,"
Buffy mumbled
and sprinted behind Tara.
Buffy stopped dead in her tracks when they entered the large room and
saw the body of the women she loved lying on the ground. Tara was
already jumping through the remains making her way to the fallen
slayer. Buffy pulled herself together and followed the blonde witch
and dropped beside Willow.
"Buffy, I can't find a pulse," Tara said looking at the
blood seeping
from the knife wound on her side.
"CPR, we need to do CPR. Tara, I don't know how," Buffy
said in a
panic.
"Me either," Tara whispered.
"WHAT! You're an adult. How do you not know?" Buffy
screamed.
"I'm only two years older then you," Tara yelled back.
"We can't just give up," Buffy cried running her hand
over the red
head's hair.
"Let me think," Tara said. "Buffy, I don't know if
this is going to
work. I never done anything like this before." Tara placed her
hand
on Willow heart and began to chant.
Buffy watched as blue light wrapped around the Slayer. Sad tears
sprang to her eyes when she saw that nothing was happening. Her mind
wondered over all the things she wasn't going to get to do with
her
red headed Slayer. "Tara stop."
"What?" Tara asked stumbling backwards.
"Look, she's breathing. Check for a pulse."
"Whoo hoo," Tara yelled and slapped Buffy in the arm.
"One ow, two I take it that means you got a pulse."
"Yup"
"Well hell," Buffy said and sat back down beside the still
unconscious Slayer.
Willow groaned, opened her eyes and looked between the blondes one
either side of her, "You know I remember leaving you guys at the
Giles' and specifically telling you both to stay put. Mind
telling me
why I seem to be looking at both of you because this doesn't look
like the Giles' living room."
"Saving your sorry Slayer ass?" Tara asked timidly.
"I was dead, wasn't I?" Willow groaned, sitting up.
"Easy, hon. you've got a really nasty looking wound on your
side,"
Tara told her, helping her sit up.
"Will, The Master?" Buffy asked.
"Um&well&you're kinda sitting in him," Willow
said and pointed to the
dust on Buffy pants.
"Ewww, yuck, that's just gross."
Willow laughed at the grossed out look on Buffy face, "Ok ow. No
more
funnies."
"Serves you right for laughing at me," Buffy pouted.
"Why to piss off the love interest, Slayer," Tara laughed,
pulling
Willow to her feet.
Willow looked around the buried church and stopped in her
tracks, "Hey guys, I'm alive."
"Yup," Tara and Buffy both agreed.
"We saved the world," Willow said.
"Yup," both agreed again.
"Hot damn," Willow yelled and somersaulted down the tunnel.
Buffy giggled at the excited Slayer, "You know I wouldn't
want her
job but could you imagine going from dead to somersaults in less then
ten minutes."
"She does recover quickly," Tara agreed.
"Can she recover like this that all the time?"
"Huh?" Tara asked confused.
"You know after&well you know&sex," Buffy stuttered.
"Buffy Anne Summers, I can't believe you just asked me
that."
"Well I did, so now you have to answer."
"I so do not," Tara countered.
"Oh come on, share," Buffy argued.
"Nope, you'll just have to find out on your own."
"I will you know, sometime" Buffy said, watching the red head
as she
made her way down the tunnel.
Tara put her arm around the younger girl's shoulder, "I have
no
doubts about that."
The trio walked through the door to the Giles' home and the sound
of
a screaming two year old. Joyce was pacing and bouncing the wailing
girl, "Oh thank god, Willow are you ok?"
"Pretty much. What happened?" Willow asked taking Dawn.
"She woke up about half an hour ago screaming and none of us have
been able to calm her down," Joyce told her checking the Slayer
for
injuries.
"Giles, are we ok," Willow asked timidly, still feeling
guilty for
knocking him out.
"Yes, Joyce made me see the errors of my ways, that I would have
been
committing suicide by going after the Master by myself. Speaking of
the Master," Giles asked, inspecting the wound on her side.
"Well Buffy's wearing most of him on her ass," Willow
giggled,
rubbing her sister on the back and sitting down on the floor.
"Again all I'm going to say is ew," Buffy groaned.
"Then all is well. You beat the prophecy, " Giles said.
"Well not exactly. Tara and Buffy saved me."
"Tara saved you, I just watched," Buffy said.
"How?" Giles asked.
"I was dead. She brought me back&Oh hell. Shit, damn, son of
a
bitch," Willow yelled and began to pace the room. "Giles I
died."
"Yes but you're ok now," the Watcher said, not getting
what his
Slayer was saying.
"Hello, can you hear the words coming out of my mouth? Giles I
died,"
Willow yelled smacking the Watcher in the arm and glancing to Buffy.
"Oh dear lord. Buffy how are you feeling tonight?" Giles
asked his
stepdaughter.
"I little tired actually," Buffy said trying to stifle a yawn.
Willow and Giles looked back and forth between each other, neither
able to keep the goofy grins off their face. "Buffy can you help
me
move this chest?" Giles asked.
"Sure thing, Dad. Even though it would make more since to have
the
one with super human strength do that," Buffy grumbled and then
tried
to lift the chest. "Arrg, I thought you were going to help? I
can't
even budge this thing."
Willow could barely contain her excitement at seeing the blonde
struggle with the heavy load, " Here let me get that." Willow
picked
up the chest and set it back in the corner of the room, as the phone
rang.
"Show off," Buffy complained.
"Yeah but you love it," Tara whispered in Buffy ear.
"Oh yeah."
"Yes&yes&I see&I'll get back to you soon,"
Giles said into the
phone. "Well Willow, that was the head of the Watchers, it seems
you
were right. As of an hour ago a new Slayer was called. A fourteen-
year-old girl in Boston. It would seem we have a decision to
make."
"Huh, what kind of decision?" Willow asked.
"They want to know if we want them to send her here," Giles
told her
knowing that the Slayer had no idea of what he was trying to
say. "Willow this your chance to get out, have a normal life. You
could retire."
Willow plopped down on the floor and pulled her sister into her
lap, "Um&wow."
"Ok Will I'm all with the whoo hoo here and your not,"
Buffy said and
sat down beside her.
Willow looked around at the faces of the friends she had made since
coming to town, "No I'm all with the whoo and hoo but
it's not a
matter of just saying that I'm not the Slayer anymore. Being the
Slayer has become a part of who I am. Giles what happens to this girl
if I don't quit?"
"She will most probably stay in Boston and train with her Watcher
until she is needed either here of somewhere else."
"So she would have a somewhat normal life there?" Willow
asked.
"As normal as life as a Slayer can be, but with a lot less
danger,"
Giles explained.
"Will, you can't seriously be thinking of not taking
advantage of
this chance?" Tara asked, coming to sit on the other side of
Willow.
"Yes, Giles make the call, tell them to keep her there,"
Willow said,
pulling to her feet and holding Dawn close. "Guys, I know you
don't
understand this but I can't just quit. Sometimes I hate what I
have
to do but it's who I am, who I've been or training to be for
almost
seven years. I couldn't just sit around and not do anything about
it,
so why drag another poor girl into the hell or in this case the mouth
of hell."
Tara hugged Willow, "You have us too and I think after tonight
you
can see that we can help."
"Yeah we saved your ass," Buffy laughed.
"You most certainly did. Giles call them back, I think I have all
the
help I need right now. I'm going home now. Buffy, Tara thanks for
saving me. Goodnight guys."
Buffy pulled Tara to the side as Willow said the rest of her goodbyes
to the group, "She shouldn't be alone tonight."
"I agree, maybe you should stay with her," Tara told her.
"No, I think she going to need you tonight. It's not time for
us yet.
Go take care of her and have fun. Just know that it will be my time
soon and I don't share."
Tara hugged Buffy, "Buffy Summers you are one hell of a women and
Willow is going to be one lucky women."
"Hey Will hang on. Tara going with you," Buffy said.
"She is?" Willow asked, cocking her eyebrows.
"Yup, have fun tonight," Buffy said, shoving Willow out the
door and
then Tara behind her.
"But&" Willow tried to start.
"No buts, goodnight ladies," Buffy said, shut the door on
them and
went to celebrate that fact they were still alive with her friends
and family.
