FIC: The red headed Slayer 12/?

I wanted say thanks to everyone who sent FB and hope that I didn't offend any of you college football fans, especially anyone that lives here in Columbus. It's a beautiful town and I love living here but we are a little obsessive with the Buckeyes. Parts in inside these little things <> are flashbacks. I hope I made it clear the way I wrote it but with me who knows. Jen

"Um&well&" Willow started. She stole a quick glance at Buffy before whispering, "Yeah, I didn't have much of choice." Willow sighed, glancing out the window once again before continuing her story, "They had Dawn. I had no idea where I was; all they told me was that I wasn't in my world anymore. I was stuck there for about three weeks before I came across Spike. They had captured him and put a chip in his head, it prevented him from killing or hurting humans. It was kinda funny, really. Spike the neutered vampire. Anyway I told him what was going on and helped him escape, in return he promised me he would send help. He didn't tell me much about the world I was in but did tell me there was a Slayer in town. Imagine my surprise when two nights later Spike returned with Buffy, Will, and Xander. Will had shut down all the power and the Initiative was in a chaos trying to round up all the escaped demons, we found Dawn and got the hell out of there. We went back to Giles' place and I explained everything the best I could. Buffy was shocked when she found out about the experiment and then the shocked turned to anger. It took all the training and strength I had as a Slayer to stop her. I think she would kill everyone of those damn people if she had gotten the chance. I didn't know whether there little experiment had worked or not, I know they had tried but it was a little too early to tell. So we waited and we researched to find a way for me to go home. Buffy just kind of ignored me and that was fine by me, it was just to weird being around her considering my feelings for my Buffy. I spent most of those first weeks talking to Will and Giles. I think Willow was relieved to have someone to talk to about her growing feelings for Tara. She told me how oblivious Buffy and Xander were. Giles shared with me all the differences between the realties, all the back- stories and the group dynamics. Giles had calls in everywhere trying to locate Ethan. Finally the day came that I was dreading. I didn't tell the group where I was going; I just made the appointment and went. I remember walking out of that doctor's office dazed and confused. I was pregnant and no not in some nice normal way, carrying someone I loved child. I was pregnant by someone that I wasn't even sure I liked, much less loved. I wondered around town for hours just lost, cursing any and all gods who thought playing with my life was some sort of fun hobby. My life had become a practical joke for the Powers that Be. I ended up back at Giles'. I said a silent payer that Buffy wasn't there and I could put this off for just a little longer but of course she was there and so was Riley. I'm not sure what happened but the next thing I do remember was that Riley was holding an ice pack on his eye and Buffy was shooting me death glares. Willow told me I took one look at Riley and punched him. I guess his presence reminded me of the Initiative and that wasn't something I was in the mood for. I felt really guilty about it after, Riley had been really nice to me and had been helping us deal with Adam and helping us find anything he could about me. I didn't hate him as much as I hated the Initiative but I took it out on him," Willow paused, catching her breath. Her mind played the scene of that day in Giles' living room over in her head&

< "What the hell is wrong with you," Buffy screamed, coming to stand in front of me.

"Look, I'm sorry about that but you have about three seconds to get out of my face," I yelled back.
"Or what?" Buffy said stepping closer.

I looked into her eyes and recognized what I saw there. I knew it was the probably the same look I got whenever I went up against an enemy. "Slayer or not, I'll kick your ass," I growled and took the last step forward.

"If you think you got it in you go for it," she said holding her ground.

I started to pull back to hit her when I felt myself freeze in place. I saw Buffy stuck in the same spot with the same look of bewilderment on her face. Finally a voice from behind me spoke, "If I have Tara let you go will you both behave and move to your separate corners until you calm down?" Willow asked. Buffy and I stumbled forward at the same time. I caught her before she hit me and pushed her away.

"Now go," Willow said and I went to sit on the couch with her and Tara. Dawn crawled out of Tara's lap and planted herself on mine. Buffy moved to the chair across from the couch with Riley sitting on the arm. Xander and Anya took the floor. Giles stood and began to clean his glasses.

"Riley, I'm really sorry. I guess it's just been a really long day and I took it out on you," I told him. "Hey no problem. I know you've been through a lot. Did it make you feel better?" he asked me.

I could see his sympathy written all over his face and I couldn't help but smile at him, "Yeah for a minute but now I feel really guilty."

"Well then if it helped, stop feeling guilty. You can beat me up anytime you need to," He told me with a goofy grin.

"Like hell she can," Buffy yelled, sitting up in the chair.

"Buffy," Willow shouted. "Don't make me do it again."

Buffy glared at her best friend but sat back in the chair. I could keep the smirk off my face, well that is until Willow saw it and cocked her eyebrow at me. "Is it return to elementary school for Slayer day?" Willow asked Giles.

"Ha ha, Will," Buffy snorted but giggled anyway. "Willow&um&Slayer Willow, would you like to talk about what has made this day so bad?" Giles asked me.

I lowered my head not sure whether I was ready to share my news just yet but knowing I didn't have much choice. I sighed before I spoke, "I think I need to talk to Buffy first."

"Do you promise not to kill her?" Willow asked me.

"As if," Buffy muttered.

"Yeah I promise to not kill her," I said ignoring Buffy comment.

"Tara and I will take Dawn to the park. Xander, Anya come with?" Willow asked the couple.

"Sure," Xander said and pulled his girlfriend up.

"I need to get to class," Riley told Buffy.

"See you later?" Buffy asked him.

"Tonight for patrol," Riley said and kissed her forehead. "Play nice ladies."

"I'll just go&um somewhere not here," Giles mumbled and followed the scoobies out the door.

"So talk," Buffy said from her spot on the couch.

"Why do you hate me so much," I questioned.
"I don't hate you," Buffy responded not even looking at me.

"Really could have fooled me. Do you just hate the competition? Because I really have no plans of taking over for you. Hell I didn't want to come in the first place. I'd much rather be back at home with my Buffy."

"Your Buffy, what where you love?" She asked me her eyes narrowing.
"Yeah I think we were. Do you have a problem with it?" I growled.

"I was gay?"

"Yup and I was too stupid to just let it happen. I was too busy worrying about an age difference that wasn't really an age difference. I wasted a lot of time because of that," I sighed and lowered my head in defeat. "Buffy I don't want to fight with you. We have no idea how long I'm going to be stuck here and I really want, no I need us to get along."

"Why, why is it so important?" Buffy asked me moving to sit on the couch beside me.

"Because it worked," I whispered.

"What worked&Oh&OH&oh god."

"Yeah, that was my thoughts," I chuckled seeing the scared look on the other Slayer.

"Hey it's not funny," Buffy grumbled.

"You&should&see&the&look&on your face," I tried to say between gasping for air.

My laughter must have been infectious because she began to giggle and we ended up falling into each other. Buffy pulled me to her and I snuggled up under her arm, both of us trying to settle down. We sat in silence just trying to gather our thoughts. "So now what?" She asked me.

"I don't know. I'm pregnant and it's your baby."

"I'm sorry I've been such a bitch to you. I just wasn't sure what to think or how to feel about you. I mean you look just like my Will but your not. I mean you're a Slayer."

"It's ok, I've been kind of ignoring you too. I let my feelings for the other Buffy get in the way." I turned to look at the strong confident woman beside me, "Do you want to keep this baby?"

"I don't think that I could not keep her," Buffy told me.

"Her?"

"Well I talked to Will and she told me it would have to be a her because we're both hers."

"You talked to Willow about this?" I asked surprised.

"Yeah, I was really scared when you told me what they had tried to do to you."

"We can do this, right?" I asked, my fear coming through in my voice.

"You've done a pretty good job with Dawn," Buffy assured me, pulling me closer. "And this time you have all the Scoobies to back you up." >

"So you guys were able work things out?" Joyce asked, pulling Willow out of her flashback.

"Yeah we still had our disagreements but we worked them out. I helped them defeat Adam. Jessica Joyce, Jessie and Tara Alexandria, Ali were born six weeks early, it was touch and go with Jess. She was the smallest. She looks just like Buffy."

"Twins?" Tara questioned.

< "Come on, Wil&um Anne," Buffy said from beside me.

"Smooth, Buff, real smooth," I growled in her ear.

"Sorry, I'm just a little scared right now. I mean you're not supposed to be having her yet," she whispered.

"It'll be ok. The doctor said that she was healthy and that I'm healthy, so relax. Our daughter wants out and I don't think we can stop her now," I giggled at her panic but it turned into a groaned as another contraction hit.

"Push, Hon, come on," Buffy said and helped me sit up.

"Oh now I'm Hon but eight months ago you wanted to kick my ass," I said gritting my teeth against the pain.

"What can I say, you grew on me," Buffy told me with a grin.

"Ok Anne I got the head. One more push," The doctor said from between my legs.

I saw Buffy peak down and tears came to her eyes, "Oh I see her head. Ooh I see the rest of her now. You did it, Will. We have a daughter."

We were so wrapped up in the excitement of it all that we missed the look of concern on the doctor's face, "Buffy, Anne we need to move the baby up the NICU. I don't want you to worry but she's small and we want to make sure that her lungs are developed."

"Huh?" Buffy and I both asked. "I thought you said she was healthy?" Buffy growled and moved to him. I touched her arm and pulled her back.

"She is but we're concerned with her breathing right now. She is six weeks early and we don't want to take any chances. Ok?" He asked us.

"Ok," We both said and let out the breaths we had been holding.

I felt another contraction come, "Umm&should I need to push again?"

"It's just the placenta relax and push," he told me and went back to work between my legs.

"Hope you weren't shy because if you were, you shouldn't be now," Buffy laughed.

"Huh?" We heard the doctor ask.

"Huh what?" Buffy asked peering down.

"Anne I need you to give me another big push like before."

"Why?" I questioned confused.

"Because your other baby wants out," he smiled at us.

"Other baby?" I asked.

"Yup," he grinned. "It must have been hiding during the ultrasounds."

I saw all the color drain out of Buffy face as she began to sway, "Buffy, you ok?"

"Oh fine," she said and then hit the floor. >

"She fainted?" Buffy laughed at her counterpart.

"Yeah, she came too just in time to see Ali come into the world. Ali was much stronger and had a set of lungs that the gang heard clear out in the waiting room," Willow told them, laughing.

"Why was she so much bigger then her twin," Tara asked.

"Well remember the Glory thing?"

"She was the `Key'? Giles questioned.

"Yup. That's why she didn't show up on the ultrasound, she wasn't there. I guess the monks just saw a window of opportunity and took it. We didn't know until Tara was brain sucked and kept rambling on about her not being real and then Buffy had a run in with one of the monks," Willow said.

"Wow and she's human now?" Buffy wanted to know.

"Mmmhmm, a typical, normal thirteen year old. Ali looks just like me. There great kids, despite the weirdness of their lives."

"So you and Buffy got together?" Buffy whispered.

"Not for a long time. Buffy, I'm sorry, I know this can't be easy for you. It's only been two weeks for you but for me it was a long time. For the first three years Buffy did the weekend dad or um&mom thing. She was great with them. Joyce helped her until her death and then Will and Tara moved in with her. I finished school and took a job teaching computers at the high school. It wasn't until after Tara's death and our fight with the First that I finally realized that I might never get to come home. I had to move on. So when she asked me out it just seemed like the best choice. We had the twins to think about and Dawn had grown to love her just as much as they did. Buffy used to take her with them when they went for the weekend. When we moved to Cleveland we got a nice little house and became a family. We lived a pretty happy life up until her death a year ago," Willow chocked back the sob that was threatening to escape.

"I'm sorry," Buffy told her.

"Thanks," Willow said, giving her a sad smile.

"So when do we get to meet these kids and Dawn. I want to see Dawn," Tara said standing up and moving to the Slayer.

"Well their across the street waiting. I just need you to understand that they know about all of this but it may be a little strange for them. Joyce, they don't remember their grandmother. Buffy used to tell them about you all the time. Tara you were dead too but they know all about you. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be surprised if they get confuse you with your other selves for a few days," Willow said and then turned to Buffy. "Buffy, I&um&I don't know if their ready just yet to see you. Their Buffy looked a little older but not a lot. Maybe you could wait upstairs until they got used to the rest of the gang, then you could come down and meet them?"

"Sure, no problem," Buffy mumbled and went upstairs.

"I'll go get them," Willow said.

"So their all over here?" Dawn asked as they came up on the front porch.

"Yeah, you guys ok with this?" Willow questioned her daughters.

"It's going to be weird to see people who are dead," Jessie said.

"Yeah," Ali agreed.

"Remember they're not dead here and they're not the same Scooby gang," Willow informed them.

"We know but come on this is just messed up, even for us," Jessie complained.

"True," Dawn agreed.

"I know," Willow sighed and opened the door motioning for the girls to enter.

The girls stared at the gang sitting in the living and then smiles broke into giggles. "Oh my god. Their so young," Dawn laughed and pointed to Xander then looked at Giles.
"Grandma?" Both twins asked.

"Well no but wow," Ali stammered.

"Close enough," Joyce told them and stood to hug each one of them. "Welcome home, girls."

"You're Tara," Dawn said and pointed to the blonde witch.

"This is just weird," Jessie announced.

Willow waited until the girls had plopped down on the floor getting to know everyone and then headed for the stairs. She paused outside Buffy door gathering her thoughts before she knocked.

"Come in," she heard Buffy yell. Willow opened the door and walked into the room. Buffy was pacing around the room talking on the phone, she motioned for the Slayer to sit down, "Yeah tomorrow sounds good...it's a date then&I'm glad I changed my mind too&things kinda worked out today and thought I'd give you a call&ok well I look forward to seeing you again. Goodbye."

"You have a date?" Willow squeaked.

"Yeah she's a friend of Tara's and she asked me out last week and I turned her down. I&I just think I should go. I can't wait on you forever, no matter how much I love you."

"I&um&I suppose you're right," Willow whispered. "I never meant to hurt you, Buffy."

"I know but I guess we have to face that it won't work with us," Buffy said and wiped the tear from her eye.

"I'm sorry," Willow told her and brushed the tear off Buffy face as it trailed down her cheek.

"Don't be, you can't change what happened. Friends?"

"For as long as you want me to be," Willow said her own tears falling.

"How about forever? How are the girls adjusting?"

"They were making fun of Xander when I left," Willow laughed.

Buffy giggled, "Well they should fit in just fine then. Can I meet them?"

Willow took her hand and pulled her downstairs, stopping at the bottom, "Let me go in there first." Willow stood behind her daughters as Buffy walked into the room.

"Mama?" Ali questioned and started for Buffy. "You're not her?" She sobbed turning to Willow. "Mommy?"

Willow wrapped her arm around the girl, "No baby-girl, it's not her. I'm sorry."

Buffy stood there afraid to move, "Hi."

"I'm ok now," Ali said pulling out of her mother's arms.

"Are you sure?" Willow asked looking at all three of her daughters. Dawn was holding Jessie who was crying.

"Yeah," she said and waved to Buffy. "I'm Ali."

"Hi Ali."

"I'm Jessie."

"Hi and Dawn my god you're got so big," Buffy breathed, taking in the taller girl.

"Fourteen years will do that to you," Dawn told her.

"Ok guys, I think we ought to head home we have a lot to do over the next couple of days," Willow said herding them to the door.

"Dinner tomorrow?" Joyce asked.

"Wouldn't miss it," Willow waved and headed out the door.

"Um, whoa, strange day" Xander muttered and everyone nodded their heads.
