Kirayoshi,

An excellent new part, I'm definitely enjoying this story. I'm
not very familiar with 'The Pretender' though, so I expect I'm
missing some of the nuances. Can you point me towards a resource
on the Pretender, or provide a quick thumbnail sketch of who
these people are? You're doing a good job of providing context,
but I'd like to know more.
