Okay, I'll admit that I don't do the conventions a lot. Mainly because of money issues(I usually don't have any!). So I had only heard about Joss's possible involvement with the X-Men recently.
I am aware that he is a huge fan of comics, especially the X-Men. I'm sure you all know that he wrote a scene for the first X-Men movie that was, alas, never shot. I think it involved the Danger Room. And let's face it, few TV writers can cut to the human being inside the hero like Joss can.
Just had a thought; Willow is a cute Jewish computer hacker. And Shadowcat, one of the X-Men, is a cute Jewish computer hacker. And they both had blonde best friends and bad luck with guys. Oh yeah, this could be right up Joss's alley!
Of course, Shadowcat in X-canon is straight. Although I've read more than a few fanfics that have paired her off with either Rogue, Rachel Summers or Jubilee. Go figure...
