Ficlet: Reunion In Rome

and Fox.  Just borrowing them, and promise to return them safe and 
sound.  And maybe a little happier.  Or more freaked.  Whichever.
Spoilers:  All of BtVS, and Angel through Shells.
Summary:  Continuing the In Rome series (Conversation, 
Complications, Phone Conversation, Understandings, and Seizing The 
Moment).  Willow visited Buffy and Dawn.  Dawn played matchmaker.  
Dawn has a big secret, but she doesn't know what it is.  Giles and 
Xander are on their way to explain it.  But, Dawn's come along very 
well with magic, computer hacking, dead languages...  It's like she 
has a natural talent for them.  Buffy and Willow finally did what 
they'd been wanting to do for eight long years, and consumated their 
relationship.  But, as Buffy was having a Willorgasm, Faith, Buffy's 
formerly psycho ex-girlfriend, walked in the door.  Uh oh...
Warning:  Silliness.  This is the chapter I was honestly afraid to 
write.  But, I'd set it up, so...  Be warned.


We pick up where we left off, Buffy and Willow naked after some 
magnificant lovemaking, Faith standing in the doorway with her arms 
crossed over her chest and her trademark smirk...

Buffy:  Faith!  Um, hi!  

Faith:  I'd ask how you were doin', B, but I got a pretty good idea.

Willow:  So...  What brings you to Rome...  so unexpectedly?

Faith:  Came with Giles and Xander.

Buffy:  Oh.  They're here?

Faith:  Yeah, figured I'd come find you..  And I find you com...

Willow:  Xander?!!  Giles?!!  Here?!!!  NOW?!!!  Gulp...

Dawn comes up...

Dawn:  Hey, what...  (looks into room)

Buffy:  Um, Dawn...  I...  We...  Um...

Dawn:  (happy)  YES!!!  Finally!!!  (looks at Faith, concerned)  
Though, awkward...

Faith:  You think?

Willow:  Um, maybe we should get dressed, before...

Xander:  Hey, Dawnie...  So, where are...  (looks in room)  Oh...  
My....  God...

Willow:  Eep!

Buffy:  (embarrassed smile)  Hi, Xander.

Xander:  Uh...  No, no, don't stare...

Willow:  This can't get more embarrassing...

Buffy:  Willow!!!  Why'd you say that!!!  Now, it'll HAVE to get 
more embarrassing!

Willow:  Oh...  Sorry...  But what could...

Giles:  What are you all...  (looks in room)  Ah!  Well, it's about 
bloody time...  (Buffy and Willow exchange a "Wha?" look)  Um, we 
have some very important news about Dawn.  So, if we could all 
gather in the main room...  (The group leaves, closing the door 
behind them)

Willow:  Well...  That went well...

Buffy:  Not how I'd planned to tell everybody, but hey...  (jumps 
up, and pulls Willow to her feet)  Let's find out what they found 
out..  (Takes Willow by the hand, and heads to door)

Willow:  Buffy!!!  Wait!

Buffy:  (stops, turns to face Willow)  Oh, sorry...  I guess this 
isn't how we should finish our first time...  Willow, I love you.

Willow:  I love you too, Buffy, but...  Clothes.

Buffy:  Oh!  Yeah...  

Later, sort of dressed, and in the main room...

Giles:  Now, we'd wondered why Dawn, since she was made from Buffy's 
blood, or so we were told, doesn't look like her.  So, we took some 
tests.

Buffy: And?  Is she my magically created sister?  Is it my blood?

Giles:  Yes.

Buffy:  So, why the differences?  She has my power levels, but they 
channel differently.  

Giles:  Yes...  She's quite powerful, and has your drive, and 
ability to learn skills quickly, through observation.  But, her 
skills are being extremely adept at magic, computers, and 
languages.  Remarkably adept.

Dawn:  (crossing her arms and smugly smirking)  I'm good.

Giles:  Quite so.  The reason she doesn't look exactly like Buffy 
and is naturally skilled in those particular areas is...  There's 
someone else who was part of what made her.

Buffy's and Willow's eyes widen.

Willow:  Goddess...  You mean...  She's Buffy's...  And mine?

Giles:  Yes, exactly.  But...

Buffy:  We're parents...  With a daughter almost as old as we are...

Willow:  (overjoyed)  Wow...

Buffy:  Those monks...  Somehow, they knew...

Willow:  Before I did...  Everybody knew before I did...

Giles:  Yes, but there's more...

Faith:  Well...

Giles:  Yes, don't let me finish...

Faith:  Damn, B.  I thought we had something special, but we didn't 
have a magical love child...  (laughs)  That's SO cute...

Giles:  Ahem!!!

Buffy looks at Faith with an unreadable expression. Willow just 
looks at Faith with anger.

Willow:  Don't you make fun of this!  This is beautiful, and 
something YOU could NEVER have!

Giles:  As I was SAYING...  (everyody pays attention)  There's 
more.  It seems it's not just Buffy and Willow who are Dawn's...  
parents.  There's one more person in the genetic mix.

Willow:  Who?  (looks at her magical daughter, who still is standing 
with her arms crossed over her chest and smirking)  Oh, no...

Everyone turns to Faith.

Faith:  What?

Buffy:  Of course!  It makes sense!  

Willow:  It does?  How?  

Buffy:  When I first had the dreams prophesizing Dawn...  It was 
SHARED dreams!  (to Faith)  You remember!

Faith:  Yeah...  Damn...

Xander:  Well, that's a phenomenon I thought I'd never see...  
Faith's blushing!

Faith:  Am not!

Dawn:  This is so COOL!

Willow:  Well, at least we know where Dawn got her criminal 
tendencies from...

Faith: Hey!  B has criminal tendencies, too!

Buffy:  That's where she got that ear piercing scream of hers  
(smiles at Faith).

Faith:  I do NOT scream!

Buffy, Dawm, Xander:  (at once)  Yes, you do!

Faith:  Oh, God...  I can't take this...  I can't...

Dawn:  What?!!  (tearfully)  You're going to abandon me, aren't 
you?!!!

Faith:  No, no...  Dawnie, I'd never do that...

Willow:  Do the abandonment issues come from me?

Faith:  Those'd be mine.

Dawn:  Then, why can't you TAKE this?

Faith:  It's...  it's...  kinda sick...

Dawn:  What?!!! Having a daughter with Buffy and Willow is SICK?!!!

Willow gets very quiet and thoughtful.  Buffy looks concerned.

Faith:  No, no...  It's just that...  I can't say it...

Buffy:  Faith, please...  If I've learned one thing during the last 
few days, it's that you can't keep this stuff inside.  You have to 
communicate, honestly.  You can TELL us...  You can tell me.

Faith:  Um...  (still shaken)  OK...  It's just that...  Finding out 
Dawn's my daughter...  With two other women...  

Buffy:  Go ahead...  

Faith:  When I came back to Sunnydale...  After being gone for so 
long...  And I saw Dawn...  How she'd grown...  I...

Willow looks up, understanding...

Faith:  I was checking her out.  

Buffy:  (pause)  Oh.

Faith:  I mean, she's so hot...  I didn't know...  But now...

Willow:  Right there with ya.

Buffy:  Huh?!!
