A CT would be done first. If a more detailed image was needed an MRI
would be done. The difference between MRI and CT is that an MRI does
not use x-rays.

EEG (Electro EnchephaloGraphy) cannot measure activity beyond the
cerebral cortex and so is used with an MRI.
