Re: OT - I need help finding some articles about Willow
Thanks so much Mike!! I'm going to use that in the 3rd paper on this
topic where I actually put my argument together. I appreciate that a
lot.
And I'm perfectly happy with you focusing on those WIP fics. ( :

Dutch,
I tried different combinations of search criteria focusing on
grief,
addiction and then obsessive behavior/behaviour(Doctors tend to use
the older spelling).
I tried obsessive behavior because it's often interchangeable with
addiction.
With this particular combination on vivisimo (grief manifested in
obsessive behaviour) I found one interesting article. It's short
but appears to be supportive of your theory.
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/npd/88487
The article discusses pathological narcissism as the result of
trauma and a light went off in my head. Many of Willow's activites
after the death of buffy do appear as a pathological narcissism,
specifically her not listening to Tara and not comprehending the
the
results of her misuse of magic. She was oblivious to anyone's
opinion but her own. And her need to bring Buffy back was clearly
obsessive. Once Buffy was back, she still never dealt with her
original grief and the obsessive behavior continued.
I'm intrigued by this concept myself and actually gives me some
story ideas that I would pursue if I wasn't already trying to write
4 fics at the same time.
If I come across anything else that appears supportive I'll forward
the link.
Hope this helps
