Jim, You made my day when I saw another part of this wonderful
fic in my inbox. Your grasp of the characters of both series is extraordinary.
Particularly on target was Riley - restless and impatient while confined to his
bed, insecure (this time with reason to be) about his relationship with Buffy.
And I loved Buffy's thoughts about their relationship:
"I guess it's time I
told you the truth," Riley said to a skeptical Buffy. "I'm a
lesbian."
Well, Buffy
thought with a faint sardonic smile, I
guess we have something in common after all.
Your characterizations of the
"Pretender" cast was also dead on. You continue to capture Jarod's innate sense
of good and evil as well as his kindness and caring for those around him while
still maintaining his innocence and curiosity about everything around him. The
discussion about why the Scooby gang is called the Scooby gang was brilliantly
written and is just so ... Jarod!
And never was there a better description
of the evil Raines than this:
The more time he spent
in the cadaverous man's presence, the more he was reminded of the
Gentlemen.
The mention of Broots'
daughter, Debbie, by Lyle provided just the right touch of debauchery that we've
come to expect from him and the pairing of him and Spike was inspired. I
anxiously await the demise of these two - preferably together ... or maybe at
each others hand.
