I think that the story that you are looking for is called "Legend" by Enemymine. The sword that Buffy uses is called the Bladesinger and she is the Godess's chosen warrior to defeat Vlad Tepes. In doing so ... will close the Hellmouth.
You can find the story in the files links in our group. Click on Sam's Stories and you should find the file titled "Legend" It is the only place that I have come across the story. Let me know if this is the correct story.
