Title: The Linking of Hands part 2/?

Spoilers: Takes place in season 7, so it's all fair game.  
Disclaimer:  I don't own any of the characters.  Just having some fun 
with them.
Summary:  What fun is that?

        Giles and the potentials arrive later than they do in the 
actual episode, just so I have time to play.



    Willow was having trouble concentrating all day.  She couldn't 
stop thinking about the eye contact shared with Buffy earlier.  Willow 
and Anya were setting up the remaining ingredients in the dining room 
for a spell, to see if they could locate "The First".  Willow was 
still feeling a little skeptical about using majick, after her close 
encounter with evil.
    < You can do this.  It's a simple spell.  You've done it tons of 
times. >
    Xander and Buffy were talking about Buffy needing to get some 
sleep.  They stood back and watched Willow sprinkle powder onto the 
table.  All of a sudden, there was an explosion that illuminated the 
entire room.  This sent Anya flying back into the wall, with a  
"thud".  Willow's head flew back, while both her hair and her eyes 
turned black.
    < Oh God!  Willow!  No, this can't happen again. >  Buffy 
thought, unsure what to do.  
 
"The First" appeared out of Willow, filling the room.  Its' presence 
was pure evil.  As fast as it had appeared it had vanished back into 
Willow.
"Will!"  Buffy yelled, completely terrified.  

    Electric jolts flew from Willow's mouth, knocking Buffy to the 
floor.  Xander threw and smashed the bowl that held the spell 
ingredients.  He ran to Anya, who was sprawled against the wall.  
Willow collapsed to the floor trembling, and crying.  Buffy ran to 
Willow, and knelt on the floor.  She gently laid Willow's head onto 
her lap.  Buffy stroked Willow's hair softly, while trying to soothe 
the once again redhead.
    "It's still in me!  I feel it!"  Willow cried.

    "No it's not.  It's gone.  You're okay."  Buffy said, still 
stroking Willow's hair while on the verge of tears herself, after 
almost losing the redhead to again.
    "I don't want to hurt anybody.  Please, Buffy, don't let it make 
me.  Oh God!"  Willow choked out, sobbing uncontrollably.
    "We won't.  I promise.  We won't use majick to fight this thing 
until we know what we're doing."  Buffy said, sounding way more 
confident than she was feeling.
    Still kneeling on the floor, Buffy gathered Willow into a hug.  
She held Willow tight as she cried.  Buffy rubbed Willow's back, 
feeling her own back, and shirt getting wet from Willow's tears.  
Buffy's left hand held the back of Willow's neck while her thumb 
rubbed small circles at her jaw line, just below her ear.
    "Shhhh.  It's okay Will.  I've got you.  Everything's gonna be 
okay.  Shhhh."  Buffy whispered to Willow, trying to calm her.  She 
did just that.
    "Buffy?"  Willowed pulled back so she could see Buffy's face.  
Buffy let go hesitantly and looked at Willow.
    "Yeah Will?"  Buffy said quietly.

    "Thank you."  

    Buffy gave Willow a small smile and helped her stand up.

    "Come on.  I'll take you up to your room.  You should get some 
rest."  Buffy said, wrapping one arm around the redhead's waist to 
steady her.  She slid her thumb into Willow's belt loop.
    Willow nodded and smiled slightly at Buffy.

   Buffy and Willow made their way up the stairs to Willow's room, 
each taking quick glances at the other when the other wasn't looking. 
Neither one of them noticing what this close proximity was doing to 
the other.
