hi,

 you know I've read your email 3 times and I still not really sure what it means, it seems real 'stream of consciousness stuff'? anyway, I'll address your points as I think you're making them?

1. It took a lot for me to put Buffy and Dawn together but I was so aghast at the original story I needed to write a happy sequal to enable me to sleep at night. buffy had suffered so much I needed the person that she loved most in all the world to bring her back. I needed Dawn. I don't know why folks write darkfic, I've written a happy ending to every one you've ever read, I will never understand why folks want our wonderful characters to suffer?

 

2. lack of reaction. yeah, I was stunned too. I once wrote a massive work called Why do we write this? in which I parodied every fanfic ever and asked folks why they read/wrote them. It included Buffy/Dawn (probably one of the most popular fanfic couples on the net, they have at least 2 groups dedicated to them) and even some Buffy/Joyce/Dawn (which is rarer but common enough for the Joyce fanfic archive to have a ban on it's posting instructions). what reaction? 3 objected out of thousands! we don't seem to mind it as long as it's ff, mf is universally condemned but we seem to be much more at ease with women being physically intimate with each other.

 

3. I did warn, HEAVY NC17!, this group has no ban on it but if the webmistress disapproves I'll certainly not post in future.

 

I love our characters and will always rescue them. I certainly think Dawn would give her body (and her life) in a heartbeat to save her sister and I think my sequal is preferrable to the original ending (check it out on my link I'll post)
