certainly not trying to defend the indefensible, rape/snuff/enslavement are indefensible and I once joined a web group devoted to just that so I could write happy sequals to all the stories (and believe me, the grief I'm getting here is nothing in comparison!)

1. I'm a brit and our age of consent is 16 (14 in italy!). If the US norm is 18 I'll abide by that in future (is that all of America? surely that means that Buffy slept with Angel underage?)

2.  I'm not sure on the sister thing, your stepsister is your sister but you're not blood relations?

 again, please read all this in context, I needed Dawn to bring Buffy back, this wasn't just 'buffy feels horny so she jumps Dawn's bones', the original story disturbed me so much I needed something special to rescue her

1) 16 is underage in most US states, including California, where the sexual age of consent is 18.

 

2) Buffy thinks of Dawn as her sister.  Dawn thinks of Buffy as her sister.  Therefore, they are sisters.

 

3) Could you please stop trying to defend the indefensible?  Incest is incest, and no amount of juggling terms and 'what iffing' is going to change that.
