Epilogue (654)

“That was great, Faith!” Beth said with a smile as she looked back over her shoulder at the Slayer. “I really enjoyed meeting all of your friends. They seem like really nice people.”

“Yeah, I thought that went pretty well,” Alex agreed, bringing up the rear as they all entered the house. “I have to admit, I was a little concerned at first to see that your friend Xander was so...uh, close with Dawn.”

“It’s kinda complicated...” Faith began. ‘Damn, how can I explain this?’ she wondered.

“They seem pretty well matched,” Beth interjected in a conciliatory tone of voice. “In a couple years no one will even bat an eye—”

“But there could certainly be negative repercussions if the authorities were to discover their relationship now,” Alex completed the thought.

They walked into the living room together while Faith mulled-over that potentiality. ‘Cops wouldn’t care, not in this town.’

“You gotta understand, there’s like, circumstances and stuff...” Faith said, unsure. “Things ain’t exactly like they seem...and D ain’t you normal kid...”

“No, she certainly isn’t,” Alex said with an emphatic shake of the head.

“Oh really?” Beth asked, crossing her arms and arching one eyebrow high on her forehead.

Hiding her grin, Faith struck a similar pose and said, “Yeah, Alex. What’s that supposed to mean?”

Alex smiled, apparently not taking them seriously. “It means that I was surprised at how she acted and spoke. If I didn’t know I was there to celebrate her sixteenth birthday, I would have pegged her as being in her late teens, maybe even early twenties.”

“You sure you aren’t in the market for a little young-n-tender?” Faith asked, teasing.

“Please,” Alex said dismissively. “Could there possibly two hotter women on the planet than the two standing right in front of me? Not likely.”

“Damn right!” Faith said, tucking her thumbs in her waistband and cocking her hips to the side.

“Anyway, it was a nice party. Thanks for taking us, Faith,” Beth said, kicking off her shoes and dropping down onto the couch.

“Yes, thank you,” Alex said, gently rubbing his hand up and down Faith’s arm.

‘I am so freakin’ whipped!’ Faith thought as her body shivered and her nipples tightened at his touch. Resisting the urge to delve into her lovers’ bodies right there and then, she said, “Um, I’m glad you guys came with...thanks.”

“Anytime!” Beth said with a joyful smile. “We love spending time with you.”

“I...um...I kinda told B I’d patrol with her tonight.” Faith changed the subject reluctantly. “If it’s okay with you, I mean.”

Beth’s _expression_ became slightly puzzled. “Of course it’s alright.”

“You don’t have to ask our permission,” Alex added.

“Oh...I just, you know...” she trailed off somewhat embarrassed. “Um, you guys think you’ll still be up?” she asked hesitantly.

“Are you kidding?” Beth asked with a hungry smile. “You think we’re going to miss out on the after-slaying hungry-and-hornies?”

‘I never shoulda mentioned that.’ Faith blushed. “Cool,” she muttered. “Later, then.”

“Hey!” Alex said as she turned to leave.

“What?” Faith asked, turning back in time for Alex to capture her mouth in an ardent kiss.

‘Unh! That good, low-down tickle!’ she thought, feeling her sex swell and grow slick. ‘Just from a freakin’ kiss!’

“Come back safe,” Alex whispered when he’d released her. “And soon—you don’t want to leave Bethy waiting.”

Faith smiled, “Yeah, I know how she gets.”

“Hey! I can hear you!” Beth protested.

Faith and Alex laughed, and then Faith left the room, blowing a kiss to her girlfriend.

After Faith had left the house, Alex walked over to the couch. “It’s getting harder,” he complained, dropping down onto the couch next to his wife. “Isn’t it?”

Beth nodded. “I just don’t know how long I can keep pretending.”

“Yeah,” Alex muttered with a sigh.
