An old fic term, meaning "One True Pairing".  It came as a result of
writers being so devoted to a specific ship that they saw any other as
ridculous, and would royally trash it, even if that other person's
OTP made as much sense, objectively, as theirs.  It really gets out of
hand when writers feel the need to write whoever the subjects of the
OTP are involved with in canon completely out of character, on the
basis that this person MUST be horrible since they're "the other
woman", or "other man" coming between the OTP.  The Buffy chracter
that suffered from this sort of abuse the most was Riley, who incurred
the wrath of the Bangels, the Fuffies, the Spuffies, the Wiffies, the
BeeGees, AND the Banders, with these usually warring factions uniting
in shouting "DIE RILEY DIE!!!".  Poor guy never stood a chance  :)

I don't hate Spike.  I just can't see him with Willow.

Yeah.  Not sure when, but yeah.  I'm just now trying to get back into
the swing of things.  There ARE other people I can see Willow with,
and some are even guys.  I can understand pairing her with Xander or
Giles, for example, even though that doesn't fit my personal OTP  :)

Actually, I don't think I really HAVE an OTP, because, even though I
consider Buffy and Willow as completing each other, I still really
like other ships, especially Fuffy and BeeGee.  I have the same
attitude in HP fic, thinking Harry and Hermione are perfect for each
other (Hmm...  Hero with a special destiny and the weight of the world
on his shoulders and his close friend really smart witch...  Seems to
be a thing with me), but I'm also especially fond of Harry/Luna and
Hermione/Luna.  While I DO like the popular Ginny/Luna pairing, the
idea of taking a spunky redhead witch and pairing her with a shy witch
with dirty-blonde hair that won't behave itself and who's mysterious 
and had a very powerful mother who died when she was young just gives
me a "Been there, done that" feeling, for some reason  :)
