Re: Spreading B/W was -> Mad Hamlet's post
Thank you, Tater. I agree. I've been following, almost posting even.
At least, thinking. I'll admit, I didn't read the original rant,
because it was off somewhere else. But the resulting posts have been
interesting. I was late to this list because it is so specific. I'm
still not sure I belong here. Even if this is my fav (though not the
only one I read) couple. Do you know how many feedbacks I received for
the 'Game' series that started with the words, "I never read B/W fic,
but..."? Even my latest stories have two reviews on the Near Her Always
archive from names I have never seen on any femslash list. In fact, one
of them writes W/S. If this is close to the heart of the rant, may I
suggest posting and even better, becoming true members of more general
lists. I suggest ucsl@xxxxxxxxx (the unconventional shippers list)
Any and all uncon. ships are welcome and I find the overall story
quality fairly high. Of course, it requires the ability to simply
delete stories you might not be interested in. As I'm sure most do
mine. Still, I continue to get the feedback beginning with the above
quote. And if part of the rant was 'how to make this list more active',
well then, everything has to take place on this list for a start. A
further suggestion would be posting a challenge around the 'net town'
for newcomers to join and dazzle us with their pairing ability. Just my
haypenny's worth after reading the thread here.

I understand your intentions here Mad-Hamlet, but are you sure this is a
good idea and not part of the problem? By spinning off subtopics to another
forum, you may be missing out on people who might not be interested enough
at first to go join the other forum, but would later see something in the
discussion that would catch their attention and prompt them to participate.
If you want to draw out the lurkers, you have to speak where they will hear
it.
Personally, I would read this discussion thread about spreading B/W if it
occurred on this list, but I'm not going to check a new forum to read it. I
have too many lists to keep track of already. I may not ever have anything
to contribute to the discussion, but if I did, you've lost it. You may have
also lost someone else who'd have a really good idea.
