Here's a bit of OT trivia.  Do you know why the MPAA created the NC-17 rating?  Because the X rating was *deliberately* not copyrighted.  That's right, it was on purpose.  The MPAA didn't want to watch every porn movie that came out so they left the X rating out.   Anyone could call their movie X rated--Disney could have called 'Bambi' X rated--but to get any other rating, they have to show it to the MPAA.

Because of this, the X rating was too tainted from all the bad PWP type movies--think anything staring Ron Jeremy.  They needed something they could control to apply to big studio movies with adult content.  So they came up with NC-17.

But the X rating is still there, still not copyrighted, and still being used by porn companies.

We can use it too.

Most of the PWP fics are of the same quality as the movies the MPAA didn't want to have to rate.  So we can safely use X rating for them.  It's more honest, too.  The NC-17 rating was meant for movies that had a legitimate plot as well as adult content they didn't want the kiddies to see.  The hallmark of the PWP is the 'without plot.'  So really, we should've been calling them X rated to begin with.
