Re: OT: (A Rant) Drain Brameged Inc. Bites the Hand That Feeds It

OK, I'm a lurker. I come in, eat your food, play with your toys, make a mess and leave. I cannot write. I'm a reader and I read a LOT. If a story is exceptional and moves me, I will email the author and tell them how much I liked their story. Email them, not post it to a message board. I like it to be a personal thing between me and the writer. I can only assume that Mad Hamlet does the same thing. Many people have posted without a response from Hamlet.

I understand that Mad Hamlet NEEDS a lot of attention since this posting is just a copy and paste of the last one. We all heard you the first time. Move On! If you have never received an email from me... I didn't love the story enough to respond. I will not send negative email or one that says it was 'OK'. It's not encouraging to the writer and I never want to be the reason someone quits doing what they love. I thought that was why you write, because you love to do it. Do you still love it, Hamlet? You shouldn't care about the rest of us. You should be doing this for you and the love of it.

I am going to be painfully honest to Mad Hamlet. You wonder what has happened to this group? <besides being AFRAID to post cause Hamlet has isolated the whole group> As I said before I read a lot. B/W fiction has always been a favorite of mine. But the quality of the fiction is no longer here. IN MY OPINION, the best b/w writers are gone. They no longer post or write. With the exception of a few writers, everyone writing now is mediocre. I still read it, but feel nothing for most of it. I honestly believe this group is dying because of it and that is what is scaring Mad Hamlet enough to go through this all over again. OK, here is how it also works, in my opinion. Someone starts a story... a great story... you tell them 'please write more'. 6 months later, no update... email again 'loved the story please write more'. 2 years later, nothing. Where is my incentive to keep going? There are so many stories that are not completed and frankly I'm tired of starting stories only to find they are not finished and probably never will be finished. So I will not read a 'part 1' of anything until I see that there are more regular updates. Why invest myself in something that will never find a conclusion? So all of this goes both ways. I bet if someone wrote a story beginning to end and then posted it would receive much much feedback. But that never happens, right? I haven't seen one here in a while. I also belong to a 'popular' tv group. They finish most of their stories and I see lots of feedback because of it. Everyone is nice and polite and there are no Mad Hamlets making the environment hostile and unpleasant. If I liked your stuff you would probably recognize my name. Cause, guess what?, I emailed you and told you. That doesn't mean I never read your stuff, it just never made me go 'wow that was incredible'. I know Mad Hamlet has a very large series going over at the Realm, and I had to go back and remember what it was about and why I don't remember it. Then Oh yea there is was....Willow gets raped. I don't want to read that. Sorry Hamlet, maybe it gets better, maybe it's more of the same, but you lost me. So guess what? You never heard from me. I guess I could've emailed you and said, 'sorry won't read it cause willow gets raped-something very common in f/f in order for the character to get pregnant, tired of it'. That's not me, I won't do that, but since you seem to want to hear it, there it was. I don't know if your character gets pregnant but didn't want to stick around and find out.

getting a headache now and hope i didn't offend too much,
G
