I too am a lurker, I'm not ashamed to admit it and I really don't care if you don't like it. This is a public group, and there are bound to be those who come and read without so much as a single word of feedback or fiction the whole time they are members. I don't really see this as a problem, because other than writing for the passion of the written word or the subject matter, writing is for the audience.

When a story comes along that I think is amazing, I send a private email to the author letting them know I appreciate their talents and time they take to keep me entertained. I would never send feedback correcting or proofreading someone's work (thats what beta readers are for), and I refuse to send feedback if a story is anything less than awesome. This is just a standard I've set for myself.  I've even taken the time to write a few fics of my own. I wouldn't want anyone sending negative feedback (of the non-constructive manner), or having some poser linguist try and tell me how to write. I agree that feedback is a great motivator to keep writing, but there is no way that the lack of feedback would keep me from it.
