Okay... She only has a few sentences in what I've written so
far...  but having her there makes the other changes I need to
make with such a change to the story work much better...

You can't just wave a wand (HP-style or otherwise) at Willow and
have her come out 4 years early without changing a number of
other things in the story. 

Changes have consequences...

Hmmm... I haven't decided if I'll do an anti-B/W-ship Giles. 
Joyce is virtually non-existant in the first few episodes... I
see no reason to change that. In canon I don't think she meets
Willow until much later in the season. Xander... if Willow is
already 'out' at that point... he's either accepted her (Willow)
or not... and that affects his part in the story...

I'm thinking a complete season 1 rewrite is the only way to do
it correctly... right from the beginning. 

Not sure if I want to write that myself... unlike a rewrite
where Buffy is the one who is already out, or where they
discover each other over a few months/weeks, there are already
so many things that would need to change for it to work... For
example - the scene at the Bronze IMHO does not work AT ALL with
this change to Willow. And the scene following it - Getting
Willow, Xander, and Jesse to the crypt, in a believable fashion,
so Buffy can fight vampires in their presence... kind of tricky
here.

I know some B/W ship writers have dealt with this by getting rid
of the crypt scene altogether (Jesse just disappears, never to
be heard from again) which throws out Xander's early motivation
(There was a reason he hated vampires...) or having Xander be
anti-B/W but then the story loses that ensemble feel and becomes
just B/W.

Although I'm all for a B/W fic (reading or writing) - the show
was about how ALL of them dealt with her being a vampire slayer
- friends, family, and others. Buffy is the hero of the piece
after all.

If I [re]write more than a single 'episode' (WttH/The Harvest)
it could take a LONG time. And won't be JUST about B/W.

Okay... we'll see if I end up with anything useful/readable.
Might take a month or two... or not. Might just throw the whole
thing out and work on other things isntead... :-)
