In the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan,
the Red Cross gave out bottled water, ice, MREs, and hot meals. They had a
truck thing that went up and down the streets in every single neighborhood in
this city handing out hot meals to anybody that asked for one. I'll give
money to the Red Cross for hurricane relief any time. They do far, FAR
better than our much-touted FEMA, which couldn't be bothered to do more than
take names of people who needed tarps on their roofs (and accost people who
didn't and insist that they put their names down anyway).
Besides, as I understood it, it was
the *Salvation Army* that was misappropriating funds after 9/11. 'Course,
I could be wrong.
