Re: Savage, primal, power was RE: Purring and my 2 cents.
Greetings,
then the Slayer would be no more self-aware than my blender.
Scary blenders are possible. Fear the self-aware blender. Hey, how about the
adventures of Satan Warship and Scary Blender?
its impossible to say there are hard core *facts* and that other opinions
aren¹t valid.
Pretty much, yeah. Though I think I could say a few hard core facts:
Carbon based life beat upon and was beaten upon most mightily in the tv show.
Christianity is ONLY between 2 and 5 thousand years old depending on the
source.
I like to make *my* Buffy a little primal, a little wild
There is POWERFUL imagery and plot developments in the actual series to
justify such a position. It would not do well to use them alone to support
such a portrayal but they would make an excellent basis for as such; the same
rules would apply though: Seeking Justification within the Representation in
the story and not outside of it.
with her totem animal a panther
Personally I'd avoid using a 'concrete' mythology in any BtVS series, much as
the writers, did but that wouldn't preclude basing actions in the story from
the behaivorial viewpoint of some predator of note. Indeed, a writer could
create an entire plot with an animal basis.
Mine's always been The Crow.
Duh.
(I don¹t think I¹ve ever laughed at or ridiculed other people¹s visions
like another author claimed to do a few posts ago.)
Oh I'VE Done that!
Especially when a writer's visions would more appear like
Crack-Based-Hallucinations.
It is my opinion that our society¹s biggest problem is our arrogance and
the belief that someone who doesn¹t think the same way is wrong and we are
right.
Irrantionally, yes. Fact backed belief in one's opinion is a different creed.
Because along with it comes the understanding that being proven wrong is
always possible and thus flexibility is mandatory.
Unless you're me.
See, I don't believe I'm right. I KNOW I am. I even got a memo from God! Let
me show.
'Dear Mad-Hamlet. You are right'
See? Oh...wait there's something on the back.
'twisted around and possibly the most wacked out, kneejerk mischief freak ever
to be borne from my vision. Love God.'
Oh, GOD has a vision. See 'Crack-Pipe' reference.
Everything is open to interpretation.
You should read Neitzche. He made the argument, 'There are no facts, only
interpretations.'
I'm not going to personally assign too much credit on the 'Whys' of story
plots. If the idea works, and the work is good, then that is justification
enough. This does not permit cart blanc transformations of an exisiting
storyline though. I don't care how well it was done, there is no way in Hell
I'm going to buy a Spiderman/Green Goblin love affair. Within rather flexible
paramenters, which are up to the writer who has their head screwed on
properly, pretty much anything goes; arguments for or against interpritations
are a pleasent enough mental exercise but reflect very little on the 'Whys' of
a story.
EXCEPTING....
If it doesn't work for a particular reader and they, in turn, give a detailed
account on their own 'Whys' in this instance.
'Me and counsin earl jest didn't lahk it, did we Earl?'
'CHEEEESSEEEWIIIIZZZZ!!'
I remain, as always,
Mad-Hamlet
I was born modest, but it wore off.
