I see it more as a case of Buffy having a history of doing really
stupid things (just look at her love life) often on impulse (ibid) or
fit of pique.  In season 7 Buffy was 21/22 years old, an age where
people are still prone to doing idiotic things.

I can see Buffy being turned, at least for a short period, to evil. 
Especially if she is pissed off.
