I tend to agree.  As flames go, that's pretty weak.  I once posted a bit of 
free verse on the net (Xena/Gabrielle), and the only feedback I got was a 
note telling me I was a sick, disgusting pervert.  That was more of a flame 
than telling me I'd written lame porn.  I laughed at the guy who had nothing 
better to do with his time than read stuff he thought was disgusting, and 
went merrily on my way.

Flames? The needle on the flame-o-meter doesn't even twitch with
those. If you want real examples of flames I'm sure someone can provide.

There is a big difference between criticism about a story (plot,
characterizations, whatever), hails of derisive laughter (Bruce), and
flames.

Not to be cruel but... if you can't handle any comments other than
fawning rapture over something you've thrown up on the internet
(fiction, etc)... you shouldn't be doing it.

The Internet can be a cruel place. Just because some web fic forums
are so heavily modded that you can't give an honest opinion about a
fic without being banned... doesn't mean that everyone is going to
treat your fics with kid gloves elsewhere.
