FIC: The Two - A quick summary of parts 1-12
TITLE: The Two (summary of parts 1-12)
AUTHOR: -Andy- (see2go4me@xxxxxxxxx)
RATING: R (For future violence and adult situations)
STATUS: A WiP.
DISCLAIMER: This is a derivative work. All characters belong to Joss
Whedon, Mutant Enemy, Fox Television, and others. I don't own any of
this, just the words and plot gluing my story together.
SPOILERS: All seasons of BtVS. Let's pretend Season 5 of Angel didn't
happen (Not that it matters).
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
[1] Reminder - I write some fics slowly. Especially this one. Part 12
was posted here approximately 18 months ago (Yes, it's been a LONG
time). Hence this summary per list rules that no-one probably
remembers. (The entire story is too long to repost) Part 13 should
be posted within 24 hours of this summary. This summary isn't a good
substitute for reading the whole thing. Especially since I've revised
it several times since it was originally posted here. This summary
itself is based on one I posted between parts 9 and 10.
[2] Feedback is always welcome/desired. Especially the kind that
helps me write better.
[3] The 12 parts summarized below can be found in the archives for
this list, on Ikoly:
http://www.ikoly.com/fanfic/story.php?no=370
and my blog (along with the occasional spoilers for future parts and
other assorted fic items). And even on "Twisting the Hellmouth" along
with 20+ other fics (mostly crossovers) I've written since I started
this one.
[4] This summary is based on a more in-depth outline (including time/
day info) of parts 1-12 that can be found on my blog.

The Two - A Quick Summary of Parts 1 thru 12
- - -
When it starts: Two years after the BtVS Season 7 episode "Chosen"
Parts 1-6
Buffy suddenly wakes up in an alternate universe's version of
Sunnydale. She runs into the current slayer who looks like her sister
Dawn. They almost talk. Buffy kills some vampires who wanted Dawn for
some unknown reason.
Not having any idea how she got there, Buffy decides discretion is
the better part of valor and does her best to quickly fit into the
Sunnydale landscape by finding a place to stay until she can find an
apartment, getting papers (ID, etc from a forger in LA), and basic
transportation.
The AU Dawn talks with her watcher-equivalent (A Wiccan by the name
of Willow Rosenberg) about this Buffy person she'd met.
The two slayers meet again the next night. Dawn doesn't know who
Buffy is or that she's a slayer and Buffy doesn't tell her. Dawn
tells her who her Wiccan guide is. Secretly following Dawn home,
Buffy stakes several vampires following her.
Buffy follows Dawn to school and then hunts for an apartment. She
drops in on Willow at the school after lunch and invites her out for
coffee after school
Buffy goes clothes shopping before meeting Willow and her friend
Tara. Some secrets are revealed when Tara reads Buffy's aura/mind and
Willow tells Buffy a little about the AU's slayers. But they don't
figure out Buffy is a slayer and she doesn't tell them. Buffy warns
them an apocalypse is coming.
Buffy gets a tour of the coven's house and later discovers the local
blues bar. The next day she goes job hunting and finds one at the
bookshop she now lives above.
Parts 7-12
Several weeks into her stay in Sunnydale Buffy has settled into a
routine. Training and research into her wrong universe problem in the
morning, working at the bookshop in the afternoon/early evening, and
hanging out at her favorite bar for several hours during the evening.
She makes friends with the bar owner.
Dawn gets annoyed at Buffy and Willow finds out she works at the
bookshop. They meet again at the bar and Willow shares some info on
the AU's slayers and the covens.
Dawn gets the day off from school and drops in on Buffy training at
the Coven house and Buffy offers to spar with Dawn if Willow
approves. Willow agrees to check out Buffy as a potential training
partner for Dawn.
Suspicious because they've been spending evenings for the past week
together at the bar, Dawn, thinking something is going on between
Buffy and Willow, confronts them. They both deny it.
Willow suggests a field trip to LA to give Buffy a chance to show off
her fighting skills. They go to LA, Buffy fights some demons, they go
to a demon karaoke bar. A demon (who seems to know them - Fans of
"Angel - The Series" might recognize him) makes several cryptic
comments and they head back to Sunnydale - getting back early in the
morning.
The next morning Willow thinks deep thoughts about the trip to LA and
about the confusing/complex person she is starting to see Buffy as.
She spends the next few days unsuccessfully trying to find out who
Buffy is. She does the computer thing and she has Tara do the magic
thing and they come up empty. She also has no luck figuring out what
the demon meant when he called Buffy "Chosen" (It isn't a term she's
familiar with)
While Willow is becoming frustrated by her lack of results, Madeline
gives Buffy several books and cryptic advice.
The following morning - a Saturday - Buffy helps Tony out at the
annual Chamber of Commerce fair. Willow and Dawn run into her there
and there's a lot of non-communication subtext going on.
Early Sunday morning, Dawn is out patrolling and something happens to
her and Buffy rescues her and takes her home. Dawn's sister, Beth,
isn't amused and calls Willow while Buffy runs away (She has issues).
Willow helps out with Dawn. Buffy tells her, when she gets home, what
really happened to Dawn. She also tells Willow more of her past
without giving a lot away.
We now find out Beth isn't as clueless about Dawn's activities as
Willow and Dawn thought. She confronts them that evening after Dawn
has recovered from her early morning adventure. We get a little bit
of family history along the way. Willow gets a few clues about Buffy
in the process.
While Beth is grilling Willow and Dawn, Buffy goes for a walk and is
drawn to a strange building on the edge of Sunnydale. She explores
it, finding nothing much other than something dark and mystical in
the basement. She suspects something is going to happen that won't
lead to hugs and puppies.
When she asks her later, Willow has no idea about the building and
promises to research it. A little bit of subtext, a visit to Willow's
apartment.
