Post Chosen Challenge: The Balence Restored

 

Everything Canon in Buffyverse save Tara's death. She was nearly killed, but not QUITE. Willow and Tara still love each other, but they have remained apart by mutual agreement.

 

Buffy helps defeat the First, but shakes loose of the Scoobies at the first good chance she gets, as she couldn't forget they betrayed her the way they did in 'Empty Places' (everyone but Tara and Spike sides against Buffy, Andrew the only one who's not sure which way to turn). While they try to find her, they don't until it's too late to stop what's beginning...

 

Buffy is the single greatest Slayer in History, save PERHAPS the First Slayer herself; as a result she's gained the attention of the slumbering Old One the Shadowmen had used to create the Slayers. She warned Buffy of that in the 'Restless' Dream, but Buffy didn't heed it. Buffy's defeat of Glorificus started a prophecy the Watchers knew of (and feared). But since she died, they felt it wasn't talking about Buffy. When she was resurrected the First Evil began stirring things up enough the Watchers didn't think of Buffy.

 

Buffy's resurrection was foreordained by the forces awakened by Buffy's defeat of Glory. Fortunately Tara's influence in the Ritual balenced the Darkness channeled by Willow. It was also part of the reason Buffy was off balence for pretty much all of Season Six, as a contradiction to her soul that both the Darkness AND the Light cooperated in tearing her from peace. When Buffy grasped the Scythe, Buffy gained even more Power.

 

Everything went as it needed to, until Buffy left the Scoobies in response to their Betrayal in 'Empty Places'. As a result it's left Buffy balenced on a knife's edge. Things are about to get REALLY nasty, unless Buffy finds the Balence she needs to take the final steps. Though no one knows it yet, she needs Tara and Willow.

 

Tara and Willow are connected to Buffy in several ways. Both by Glory's death as Tara's sanity had been in Glory's soul for a time, and Willow by her rescue of Tara AND Buffy's resurrection (among other things).

 

The Wolf, The Ram, and the Hart (or some other previously unknown Big Bad) know what Buffy is becoming, and are trying to influence her. Whoever succeeds in gaining Buffy's favor will have a new Goddess as an ally when she undergoes the final transformation.

 

The prophecy states that a being torn between darkness and light will emerge; Savior or Destroyer, both and neither. A trinity formed will dictate the course of the Balence for the world. If the Big Bads succeed the demons regain control, and mortal creatures are enslaved. The trinity formed will take the final step together into Godhood, with Buffy as it's head (at every stage, BUFFY is the one who chooses. She chooses those she raises to stand at her side. HER state is destined, but the other two soon to be Gods are granted that status at her choice).
