Re: Re: New poll for buffywantswillow
Hello Patrick!
> Anyone care to weigh in on this, either pro or con?
I'm 'con' for (ye gods!) maintaining the integrity (such as
it is) of season sux. Before you flame, let me explain.
In the Buffy-verse, there's been three kinds of
resurrection shown, none positive. (Well, that is counting
Buffy in "Prophesy Girl" as a resuscitation, not a
resurrection.)
1) Infusion with a demon. From the common vampire to the
corpse animating Eghyon, demons bringing bodies back to
"life" is a bad, bad thing.
2) Easy spells. Joyce was resurrected by Dawn and had to
be destroyed.
3) Big magics. Buffy was resurrected by Willow, Angel was
by means unknown, both suffered greatly for their return to
this mortal coil. Angel got better because he'd been in a
far worse place; Buffy just had to learn to live with it.
Bringing Tara back would just be another instance of
tearing a soul from Heaven. *Not* what you do to someone
you like.
That's why I'm 'con' for bringing Tara back. I *like* the
character and don't want her to suffer. I heartily approve
of fics that rewrite or retcon the death of Tara away, but
resurrection is wrong without serious repercussions.
> I just want Kennedy out of the picture.
Right there with you, pal.
Why don't I like Kennedy? She's Cordelia Chase Jr. without
the redeeming points. I honestly believe they set out to
write a character that was diametrically opposed to
Tara...and they succeded. The trouble is, why would Willow
love someone the exact opposite of Tara? Their "love" made
no sense and felt forced to me.
I hold no animosity towards Ms. Lymon; she's a beautiful
woman and probably a wonderful person. It's the character
I can't stand.
I chalk it up to them being the last two lesbians in
Sunnydale. Tight quarters, imminent danger, and hormonal
overload had them boffing. But not love.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
Your fellow 'shipper,
Howard
