Disclaimers: Don't own Willow, Buffy, Oz - Joss owns them. Don't own The Spot - they own themselves. Don't own Mr. Opporknockity (the band in the story) or their songs - they're owned by Troy Roark, Doug Gholson, Chris Camp, Tom Irwin, and Mark Sanders. Don't own DBR - Capital Radio Group owns them. The Spot, Mr. O., and DBR are actually from the Springfield, IL area, but I never let the facts get in the way of a good story. Cookie Girl and her recipe for chocolate chip/butterscotch chip cookies belong to her. She, at least, is used by permission (although if I asked Troy, he'd probably let me use the band in the story). For more on Mr. O. go to: http://www.ctllc.com/erms/opporknockity.htm and tell 'em Cookie Girl sent ya!
Buffy knew that sometimes Willow just cried. When Oz left town, she knew she had to cheer Willow up. There was a local band playing at one of the less-frequented clubs in town, and Willow had expressed a desire to hear them live.
The short walk to The Spot was spent in companionable silence. Willow tried to stop the tears from falling, but found that with the company she was with made the tears fall freer than she had meant to let them. The door was open when they got to the club, and music spilled out loudly.
One of the men with a microphone asked, "Hey everybody, Cookie Girl's in the audience! Whadda ya wanna hear tonight?"
The girl smiled at the musician's acknowledgement of her. She turned to the door to see Buffy and Willow entering. "I think either 'Sometimes She Just Cries,' or 'Moment's Notice,' tonight. We'll let Chris wait awhile before he does his new hit song, 'Miss Her Now.' It's not my fault the DBR request form is so easy to fill out." She smiled, as Troy began the chords in the begining of "Sometimes She Just Cries."
"it's four in the mornin' mascara runnin down her eyes
a new day is dawnin she's been cryin since nine
there's nothin I can do yeah there's nothin I can say
somethin just wraps her and carries her away
sometimes she just cries"
Buffy looked over to Willow, who was standing right next to her. "I think that girl requested that song just for you. It's okay to cry, Will. I'm here for you, and I always will be. Never forget that. You're my best friend."
Troy and the rest of the band finished up the song, and Troy announced, "Well, since Cookie Girl brought us two batches of cookies tonight, I guess we can grant her two requests. Here's 'Moment's Notice.'"
Buffy put her arm around Will, as the red-head burried her head in Buffy's shoulder. "Thank you," she whispered.
"For what?" Buffy answered.
"For being you."
"when you need me, just pick up the phone
I will be there at a moment's notice, so you know you're not alone."
Buffy leaned down and kissed the top of Willow's head as Cookie Girl looked back at them and smiled.
"I love you," Buffy finally said, realizing afterword that she truly meant it in every way.
