This chapter's a very cool display of the subconscious in action. While
Buffy, on the surface, doesn't get the signals Willow's sending her, she
clearly senses something, hence her taking the "why isn't Willow
jealous" question and offering an answer ("maybe you realize you're not
getting back together") that's just a hair away from Buffy's personal
dream ("maybe she doesn't WANT to get back together").

And then Buffy characterizes the proof of W/T's love as all the
handholding (which begs the comparison to her own relationship with Will
that her subconscious has plainly already made), and when Will brings up
the conversation containing the "once you fall&" line, Buffy, instead
of paraphrasing, quotes it exactly, guiding Willow to the conclusion
that Buffy "fears" (but secretly wants) Will reaching.

It's no wonder she 'fesses up at the end, but the question is whether
she'll stick to it, or dive back into the "friendship" characterization
("and just like I instantly fell for you as a friend, I'm sure Tara fell
as a lover&"). Well, that's what Chapter 4 is for.
