Re: "Kind of a Spoiler for 7.1" (7.3, 7.4)

SPOILERS below for eps 7.3 and 7.4 (in case I wasn't clear enough
above)

kat,

welcome!

and thanks
for

your
input

(and you bet

we want B/W

Together. Forever

As it should be.

We actually discussed this spoiler on our sister list
(BuffyWantsWillow), and while I doubt it has anything to do with the
kind of "reuniting' we devoutly wish for, it could well be large with
the subtext (I'm already sighing over the shot of Willow in Buffy's
bedroom that's now in the credits).

Two problems though:

In ep 7.4, Xander takes Willow to visit Tara's grave. This is probably
Willow's key emotional moment of the first half of the season, and Buffy
isn't there. (She's probably too busy letting Spike fondle her
facebecause it's not like he tried to RAPE her or anything!to
bother with Willow.) If they intended any real B/W closeness this year,
I can't believe they'd shut Buffy (and Dawn) out of Will's life like
that. Sounds more like Buffy has her moment with Willow in the year's
only Willow-centric ep, and then she's back to Spike and Dawn and Will
gets to go stand in a corner with the other forgotten Scoob, Xander.
(Time to start timing the eps...I bet there are a lot of them where
Willow won't get 5 minutes' worth of screen time. Including last night,
I think :( )

2. Lumping Buffy in with all the other BigBads last night pretty much
seemed to imply that either Buffy or Slayer power in general will be
evil this year, greasing the skids for SMG's exit and "The Spike and
Dawn Show" next year. So big B/W reunion scenes would be as tainted by
that ongoing plot as the hug last year was by the "Heeeeaaaaven" plot.
(Which is still completely unresolved, and apparently forgotten, btw.)
I doubt all this is Spike's head, since he never met the Mayor or the
Master. Likewise, the only ones in the list that Spike fought against
were Glory and Dru (he only fights girls, huh?), so I can't think some
unnamed villain was taking all these forms to mess with Spike. No, I
think the Unnamed Villain took all those forms for a thematic point,
unrelated to Spike's personal history. And since all of the others were
Big Bads (okay, not really Warren and Dru, but still...), I think the
fact that they chose to cap it off with Buffy lecturing him on "power"
indicates that Buffy (or her power) will be a key component of this
year's Evil.

Because why on Earth would you watch this show and think that Female
Power is a good thing?
