A common theory (and one backed up by the series) is thatFaith
went off the rails, at least in part, becuase she felt she was
treated as being second best to Buffy. With Buffy out of the
picture maybe she came back from the precepice and came to terms
with her existance. Maybe she got her own Scoobygang, if she
didn't then I guess she probably died at the hand of some vamp or
demon (perhaps she died in the process of stopping the mayor,
perhaps as Allan Finch didn't die in Bad Girls in this reality he
was able to sabotage the mayors plans so he never ascended).

Perhaps if Faith never came to town, Mr Trick never followed her
so was not there to stop the El Eliminatus from killing the mayor
before he could perform the dedication so after 100 years, with
only 100 days to go, the mayors plans were thwarted. Maybe
Faiths climatic battle was with a newly regenerated Balthazar.
