[buffywantswillow]FF: Questions about possible story

Okay, here's the deal: I've got an idea for a story. Yes, me. An idea. Who-da thunk. Unfortunately, I'm still new at the fic thing and don't want toes to be stepped on. I have a thing where I do "creative history" when I don't know exact details ... so I'm going to ask before I write. Here goes:

(1) What is the full name of the toads that Giles used to work for (when he was a watcher)?
(2) Can the council people bestow gifts of appreciation on people? I don't mean gold watches, I mean powers, immortality, blah dee blah dee blah ...
(3) What is the overall feeling among readers about creating a past for a regular character?
(4) Going back to "creative history," I have an idea for the transformation from paganism to wicca ... toes ... will they be stepped on? It's not negative, just alternate.
(5) Say that the question to #2 is "no" ... would anyone hunt me down and yell at me like a Master Sargeant if I magically turned it into a "yes"?

That's all. I'm going to start writing this week (or weekend) ... I'd love to hear back about these ...
