Ash (the short version of her bio, anyway) is a 7,000 year old immortal 
(give or take a few centuries). She had a twin sister originally (seven 
seconds younger) who died after Ash became immortal (long story - it's in 
the prequel), and Ash just couldn't deal so she made a deal with the Powers 
That Be or something. I don't know all the details just so I can write 
Willow and the past Willows correctly, because they don't know the whole 
thing. Becoming a slayer was one of the things that the PTB made Ash do to 
grant her sister's reincarnations. Ash is a really big slut. She's slept 
with Methos a couple of times, and Dawson... once. Most mortals only get 
one shot. Immortals get a couple of shots. Think of her as a 7000 year 
old version of Xena. She's taken over the world a few times, too. Okay, a 
7000 yo Xena/Brain (from Pinky and the Brain). She's had a lot of pain in 
her life, and she's really guarded except with her sister, and sometimes 
with Methos.
