SPOILERS: Welcome To The Hellmouth
NOTE: I have no clue what Jessie's last name was so I made one up.

Willow Rosenburg woke up with a start. The alarm clock was buzzing
loudly. Willow shut off the alarm then slowly got out of bed and got
dressed for school. As she went down stairs for breakfast she
remembered that her parents had left the night before for another one
of their scientific conferences. They wouldn't be back for another
week.

Willow went into the kitchen and found an envelope with a weeks worth
of money for food and other stuff she would need. There was also her
father's cell phone number and the number of the hotel they were
staying in. Willow knew from experience that even if she called them
the most she would get out of the conversation was a hello and
goodbye.

Willow took the money out of the envelope and through the rest away.
She went to the refrigerator and made herself breakfast and then
headed off to school.

Willow liked school. She was good at it. She understood all the
little things that made the other students go 'dolt'. The only thing
she didn't like about school was Cordelia Chase and her cronies.
Cordelia or "Queen C", depending on your mood and social standing
pretty much ruled the school and she did it with an iron fist and a
sharp whit. And Willow was her favorite target.

Willow didn't have many friends. It wasn't that she wasn't friendly.
The reason was simple. Whenever Willow got nervous, she babbled and
people made her nervous. Especially boys. Ironically her only two
friends where boys. Xander Harris and Jessie Walker.

Willow had a crush on Xander but if you told her that, she would say
she was in love with him. Xander was sweet, smart, and funny, and
head over heals in heat with Cordelia Chase. All the boys were. To
Xander and Jessie, Willow was just one of the guys and someone to get
the answers for last nights homework assignment from.

Willow didn't mind though, she was good at homework and she liked
being one of the guys. The only problem came was when Jessie and
Xander began talking about girls when she was sitting between them.
It was all just too weird.

Willow left the house and walked to school. Sunnydale was a very
weird town. Xander called it a one Starbucks town, but it was more
then that. For a small town it had an alarmly high death rate. Most
people attributed it to the high gang activity but Willow wasn't so
sure.

Willow had met Xander outside the school where he of course asked her
to be his study buddy. Willow had no misconceptions that his idea of
study buddy was her doing the studying and him being the buddy.
Willow didn't mind though.

"Hey, hey!" Jessie walked from behind them.

"Hey, Jesse. What's up?"

"New girl." Jessie said smiling

"That's right I saw her." Xander smiled, "Pretty much a hottie."

Willow shook her head. Another girl for Xander to be all hot and
bothered for. Willow wished just once that Xander would realize that
she was of the female species. Willow didn't understand what was so
special about this girl. She was probably like all the others.

After class Willow went to the water fountain to get a drink. When
she looked up she saw the bain of her existence. The one and only
Cordelia Chase.

"Willow, nice dress." Cordelia smiled wickedly, "Good to know you've
seen the softer side of sears."

"Uh, oh, well, my mom picked it out."

"No wonder you're such a guy magnet." Cordelia paused, "Are you
done?"

Willow left soon after that, happy to get away from Cordelia. Willow
figured that the girl standing next to her was the new girl that
Xander had called a hottie. He was right though. She was a good-
looking woman. The only problem was, she was hanging with Cordelia,
which meant that Xander didn't stand a chance.

The rest of Willow's morning went on pretty much as usual. Classes
were easy, boys ignored her, and Cordelia tormented her at every
opportunity. It was lunchtime now so Willow sat on a bench and began
to eat.

"Uh, Hi! Willow right?"

Willow looked up and saw the new girl, "Why? I-I mean hi! Uh, did you
want me to move?"

"Why don't we start with, Hi I'm Buffy, and then lets segue directly
into me asking you for a favor."

Willow fidgeted nervously as Buffy sat down next to her.

"It doesn't involve moving but it does involve hanging out with me for
awhile."
"But aren't you hanging out with Cordelia?"

"Can't I do both?"

"Not legally."

"Look I really wanna get by here, new school, and.... Cordelia's been
really nice....to me anyway....., but, um, I kinda have this burning
desire not to flunk all of my classes, and I heard a rumor that you
were the person to talk to if I wanted to get caught up."

Willow eventually agreed to help Buffy, they were even bonding a
little when Xander and Jessie stopped by to amuse Buffy. Soon after
that Cordelia stopped by and whisked Buffy away.

All in all it was a normal morning. Nothing ever happened in
Sunnydale, at least not to Willow Rosenburg.
