Title: Is This Really Happening?

Notes: [] thinking, "" speaking.
RECAP: Buffy found out about Willow's night with Tara. OR so she 
thinks. (What could our devious writer be planning?)

Everyone was lounging at Giles, having just ate 3 tons of pancakes. 
Xander and Anya were snuggled up on one couch, and Buffy and Willow 
were on the other, all were watching some stupid game show, yelling 
at the stupid contestants. Giles couldn't stand the shouting 
anymore, so he got up and turned the television off. Which ofcourse, 
got everyone's attention. "Hey G-man! Why did you do that?" "Xander 
the next time you call me that you are going to end up in the news, 
under rather unpleasant circumstances, all right? Now does anyone 
else have anything they woyld like to say?" Giles looked at Willow 
and Buffy pointedly. "Yeah. Me and Wills are... going out 
together." "Congratulations." "Yea for you. Now you won't have those 
pathetic looks on your faces anymore." "As always the rather blunt 
and to the point wisdom of Anya." Willow nudged Buffy. "Well she 
started it!" Buffy looked sad all of a sudden, then left saying she 
had to go to the bathroom. "Xander? Is she upset about her mom 
again?" "Anya, honey shh. That's not something we want to talk 
about," whispered Xander. "Why are we whispering, they can atill 
hear?" "Anya be quiet." "Why should we be quiet? Unless they don't 
know about how Joyce...Oh!" Xander rolled his eyes. Willow looked 
around the room, all eyes avoided her own. [they all know and i don't 
and I'M the GIRLFRIEND!] Buffy walked back into the room,"Ready to 
go?" "Sure Buff. Bye you guys." "Bye."





Willow walked alongside Buffy, so in thought she almost tripped over 
a root. Actually she went sprawling and Buffy caught her. "You 
falling for me?" Willow satrted laughing,"That was bad Buffy! You've 
been hanging out with Xander to much!" "I know. I know." Buffy's 
smile vanished just as quickly as it had appeared. [Stop thinking 
about your mom Summers! She made her choice, focus on WIlls. You know 
that Willow would never do anything to hurt you.] Buffy sneaked a 
glance at WIllow and caught her looking at her. "Buffy?" "Yeah 
Wills?" "How is your mom?" Buffy stopped walking. "She's fine Wills." 
Buffy turned her head away from Willow, so the red head couldn't see 
the tears starting to gather in her eyes. "So what's she been doing 
lately?" "You know,the usual. Exhibits... and stuff." [I can';t 
believe Buffy is going to lie to me about this!] "Buffy what's going 
on between you and your mother?" No response. "Buffy, you can tell 
me." Willow tightened her hold on Buffy's hand. [It would be nice to 
be able to talk with Willow abou this. "Let's get some coffee and 
I'll tell you okay?" "Okay." 





"Xander? What did happen with Buffy's mother? All I know is that she 
and Buffy are not on speaking terms. But from the news we just 
recieved from Buffy and Willow, i gather that is the source of 
Buffy's poroblem with Joyce." Xander looked confused, so Giles 
simplified it for him."Joyce is upset about Buffy and Willow?" "Sort 
of. The thing is G-man, uh Giles, Buffy and I were drunk one night 
and she told me she was in love with Willow, and her mom heard it the 
next morning after I got home- Ow! Anya!" "what were you doing 
spending the night at Buffy's?" "Anya did you hear anything I said 
about Buffy? Now lett me finish telling Giles." "All right." "Anyway, 
the next morning,a little after I got home, buffy shows up on the 
door step with tears in her eyes, and I opened my arms and she fell 
into them crying. We tlaked and after awhile, half the day, she 
stopped crying." Giles sat back into his chair stunned." I knew that 
Joyce had problems with Buffy being the slayer, but this? How can she 
act like this? Buffy has managed to find someonewho loves her, and 
can care for her like she needs, I think that after all she has been 
through, I would think that Joyce would be happy for Buffy to find 
someone like Willow, considering her past relationships." "Yeah, me 
too."




Buffy held Willow's hand and a cup of coffee in one hand while with 
the other searching for her keys without success. "I've got mine with 
me Buff." "Thanks Wills." Buffy moved out of the way, and Willow 
opened the door. "Hey Willow." "AAAgggghhhhhh!! Geez you scared me! 
Umm, what are you doing here? (I wonder who it could be?? scroll down 
for the answer.)

Buffy moved around Willow so she could see who the visitor 
was, "Tara." Tara looked over to Buffy, and said hello. Willow's head 
moved back and forth between the two blondes, uncertain about what to 
do. "Were we supposed to do a spell Tara? Cause if I forgot I'm 
sorry." "No. I just wanted to hang with you." "Oh. Well I'm kinda 
doing something with Buffy right now." Willow fell silent not knowing 
what else to say. "Th- That's all right. M-Maybe we could do 
something tomorrow?" "Maybe." "Bye Willow." "Bye." Tara walked out of 
the dorm room, leaving one angry red head and her confused blonde 
girlfriend behind. "What was that all about?" "What was what all 
about?" "Willow, I know you were avoiding answering Tara." "It's just 
that, we haven't been the smae since, you know." "Oh." [I had 
forgotten all about that because I was all wrapped up with the mom 
problem.] "I remeber being promised an answer to my question if we 
got coffee." Buff smiled at Wilow,"Yes you were, but it isn't 
important." "Buffy! Anything that makes you sad is important!" Willow 
gave Buffy a pout. "Okay, but I wish you would sit down before you go 
flying through the roof." "Why?" "Because, you have no tolerance for 
caffeine, that's why." "Okay." Willow did as she was told, with 
little spillage of the coffee goodness. "When I was saying that stuff 
about Tara and you, when Xander and I were drunk, I kinda said 
something important that my mom overheard." Buffy stopped and looked 
away from Willow, having trouble talking about the unpleasant memory. 
She wiped her eyes and continued with the story,"Anyway, I told 
Xnader that I was in love with you and mom heard me. I didn't even 
remember that it had happened, and I wouldn't have, except the next 
morning she was distant. Then all of a sudden she-" Buffy started 
bawling, remembering what had happened next. "She was talking about 
her day, telling me what she had done, then she thrw in the part 
about me being gay. Willow, I was so stunned I couldn't even say 
anythig. It was just so horrible Wills! When I didn't say anyhing she 
said she could forgive me if I was in danger, that I had to have said 
it because I was the slayer! I just, Wills my whole world just 
collapsed, my mother, she... I was so angry Willowand I said 'What do 
you mean you'll forgive me?' And you know what she said?" Willow 
shook her head no." "She said, and the are her exact words,'For 
saying it. I know you could never be...' She couldn't even say it 
Willow! She couldn't even say...it" Willow wrapped Buffy up in her 
arms. "Hey, it's okay. I mean when she first found out you were the 
slayer she didn't take it that well. Maybe she just has bad reactions 
to news." Willow started gently rocking Buffy. "It'll be allright. 
Shh. Just, shh." [God how could Joyce act like that?!?] "It's all 
right your Wills is here."





Willow walked to Tara's dorm and knocked on the door. [Deja 
vu.] "Hey!" "Hey." Tara moved aside so Willow could come in. "I'm not 
going to stay for long, look, what happened the other night was a 
mistake. I don't want to talk about it, ever." "Willow how can you 
say that?! When we're together things are happen differently, it's 
like there is magic all around us!" "Tara it was a mistake all right! 
I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I don't love you. I can';t be 
with someone I don't love." Tara's face changed, showing her hurt and 
anger. "Willow don't you get it?!? We are perfect for each other! We 
do spells, we like the same stuff! How could the other night have 
been a mistake?" Willow started to speak, but Tara interrupted 
her,"You can't tell me you didn't feel anything when we kissed, or 
when we made love!" "Look Tara, yes, okay, we did sleep together, but 
I don;t love you! It was the spell! I love Buffy!" Tara stopped when 
she heard Buffy's name. "You...You love her?" "Yes." Willow took 
Tara's hand,"I love her alot. I still want to be friends, but I don't 
think that's possible right now." Willow let go of Tara's hand and 
walked away. "If you need me, call." Tara said nothing, just 
watching the red head walking away with her heart.



Buffy stopped walking when she heard Willow's voice. "Look, what 
happened the other night it was a mistake. I don't want to talk abou 
it, ever." Buffy peered around the corner of the building and saw 
Tara and Willow. "How could the other night be a mistake?" [SHe must 
be upset because Willow regrets the kiss.] "You can't tell me you 
didn't feel anything when we kissed, or when we made love!" Buffy 
pulled back, aweay from the girls. [I had to have heard that wrong. 
Willow would never.] "Look Tara, yes, okay, we did sleep together," 
[Oh my God!]Buffy's eyes filled with tears. [Willow and Tara? 
They...Oh God!] Buffy stumbled, blinded by the hot tears streaming 
down her face, back towards her dorm room. Some how Buffy managed to 
get the door open. Buffy shut the door, leaning on it for support her 
body didn't seem to have. Her eyes fell on a picture of Willow and 
herself, and picked it up. "How could you?" She threw the picture, 
causing it to shatter against the wall, landing in a pile on the 
floor. Buffy looked at the now scratched and crumpled picture. Buffy 
backed away until she reached the opposite wall. [Wills.] buffy felt 
her world collapsing again, seeing the picture, hearing Willow admit 
it. "How could she?" The blonde slid down the wall crying. [How could 
you Wills?]
