Reply to the replies on the memo
Greetings one and all,
It's nice to see that my memo brought about discussion. Still I feel that my
point with the status of BuffyLovesWillow might have been lost, although I
really don't see that much of a difference between the two lists. Note that
I must also point out that I have never rated my stories and feel no need to
do so, but then again I have never written anything that can be classfied as
smut, I write stories period. But something has do be done regarding the
BuffyLovesWillow list. What that is, is not for me do decide.
Also I feel that there is a underlying fear from some writers, you see by
honest feedback I was not talking about flames or dissing. "Honest"
feedback, and I know this will come back to bite me, is essential to a
writer that's wants to improve. I enjoy writing by the way and I love
getting feedback, but I can take a little honesty as I'm sure some the
seasoned writers can also.
Now onto what Soren, Nyrond & Lurker pointed out, that finding plot holes
and other bad things were the jobs of the beta's. This I disagree with, I
use a beta to check through my writings to see if the conversation flows
correctly, the spelling and grammar is doublechecked, but the plot is
something that should be up to the writer alone to decide and the end reader
to assess.
You should never have rely too heavily on your beta or betas. You are the
author after all, the story is something you create and you should have
faith in what you do. Not that I'm coming down on betas mind you, they serve
a purpose and make life easier for both bards and readers alike. Also there
can be a thin line between a beta and a co-writer.
Alnisa, I agree the porn adds can be bothersomea, as I've found when I'm
checking up on the list from school, but I haven't seen them lately though.
Onto the main point: Maybe I'm not reading enough these days, but please
point me to the smut on BuffyWantsWillow. I've never asscoited
BuffyWantsWillow with smut, but more with the R and NC-17 rated stories.
Kimber, yes the list should be kept seperated, but as I stated above
something really needs be done to bring live back into BuffyLovesWillow.
Now before I sign of, I'd like to point that my views are form by that fact
that I see what I do here as writing. I'm an author, a poet and a bard, so I
see no need to rate my works as they are literature to me and I look upon
the rating system as a form censorship that I don't feel belongs with the
written word.
With regard.
