The captain's superior who happened to be the overall commander of 
the RCMP for the province on Ontario immedietly picked up the phone 
after hanging up with the Captain.The commander called the station 
for the RCMP's S.I.R. teams which is located in the province of 
Manitoba.S.I.R. stands for Search Investigate Rescue and they are the 
ones who are sent out into the mountains and other rough terrain to 
search for missing people as well as try to piece together exactly 
what had occured.When the phone answered himself the Commander told 
the constable who he was and that he needed two or three of the 
S.I.R. teams to be on standby for a flight to the Loretto ski resort 
at a moments notice.The constable asked why he needed two or three 
groups instead of just one.The commander said its possible we may 
have a situation like the one at the campground at Prince Albert's 
National Park and if it is i want several teams to check out the area 
and see what they can find before the whole area is trampled over.The 
constable said we will have three teams standing by ready to head for 
the ski resort as soon as you know for sure.The commander said thanks 
but i for one damn hope its all one big mistake and the constable 
said me too sir.

The commander's next call was to Dr.Coburn and after explaining the 
situation to the doctor he told him he wanted Dr.Natalie Lambert to 
be part of the special forensics team that might be sent up there to 
investigate.Dr.Coburn told the Commander he was sure that Dr.Lambert 
would be more than willing to help out anyway she could and that he 
would talk to her as soon as she got back from a call.The commander 
said please have her call me when she gets back in i need some 
suggestions on who else i can call to be part of the special 
forensics team.Dr.Coburn said i can suggest a couple people and i am 
sure that Dr.Lambert will tell you some of those same people.The 
commander said please do the sooner i put a team together the better 
i will feel.Dr.Coburn said Commander I have no intention of losing 
the best Night Coroner Toronto has so dont you even think about 
trying to steal her away and make her a permanent member of a special 
forensics team.The commander said dont worry i only need her because 
of the possible situation at the ski resort and the speed we might 
need to move people up there.Dr.Coburn told him the people he thought 
would be good choices for the special forensics team and their 
specialities covered most of the areas that the Commander needed.

About thirty minutes Natalie Lambert walked back into the Coroner's 
office and she was immedietly told by a police officer on duty at the 
sign in desk that Dr.Coburn wanted to see her immedietly.Natalie said 
thanks Neal and she headed for Dr.Coburn's office.Natalie knocked on 
the open door to Dr.Coburn's office and he said come on in after 
seeing it was her.Natalie sat down in a chair and Dr.Coburn said 
earlier i recieved a call from the Ontario's Commander of the RCMP 
and he believes he might need a special forensics team assembled and 
he wants you to be on it.Natalie said why and Dr.Coburn said we might 
have a repeat of the massacre that happened at the camp ground in 
Prince Albert's nation park up at the Loretto ski resort.Natalie 
gasped and she said of course i will go how much time do i have to 
gather what i need.Dr.Coburn said Grace and Jill have already packed 
everything they think you may need but we wont know for sure that it 
is a repeat of the campground until sometime about dawn.Dr.Coburn 
said Natalie just to be on the safe side i want you to go home and 
pack several days worth of clothes because there if it is a repeat 
you may be up there for several days.Natalie said she would go home 
and pack immedietly and Dr.Coburn said be carefull out there the 
roads are really iced up in places.

As she walked out of the coroner's office she decided to go tell 
Nick the news that way he wouldnt be worried if he called her 
apartment and she didnt answer.As Natalie walked into the station she 
called out hello to several detectives and then headed for Nick's 
desk.Natalie saw that Nick was no where to be seen as she approached 
his desk but his partner Tracy Vetter was.Natalie tapped Tracy who ws 
reading a magazine on the shoulder and Tracy jumped an inch out of 
her chair.Tracy said Nick how many times do i have to tell you not to 
do that but then she saw it was Natalie and she said Natalie you are 
hanging around Nick too much you are starting to sneak up on people 
just like he does.Natalie said Tracy i do not sneak up on people i 
just walk up to them just like i did you but you were just to 
involved in reading something in that magazine to see me walk 
up.Tracy said your probably right this article is very interesting do 
you want to read it.Natalie said thanks Tracy but i will pass but can 
you tell me where Nick is.Tracy said he is downstairs at the target 
range getting retested by the firing board.Natalie said oh yeah he 
mentioned that all detectives were being tested for their accuracy 
with a gun.Tracy said what brings you over here by the way i dont see 
any files in your hands.Natalie said i might have to leave town for a 
couple days and i just to want Nick know so he wont worry.Tracy said 
speak of the devil and she pointed at Nick who had just walked out of 
the stairwell that led to the basement where the shooting range was.

Natalie told Tracy she would see her later and then she headed over 
to Nick.When she got over to Nick she said Nick i might have to go 
out of town for a couple days.Nick said why and Natalie said i might 
be needed on a special forensics team but i wont know for sure until 
later.Nick said do you know where you will be going and Natalie said 
Loretto ski resort but i will be staying who knows where.Nick said ok 
but keep in touch please and then he kissed her.Natalie said i will 
as soon as the kiss was broke and she said you stay out of trouble 
because i might not be around to help you out for a couple days.Nick 
said i think i can do that.Natalie said well i have to head home now 
and pack some clothes just in case i do have to go.

About forty five minutes later Craig got on the radio and called 
the desk sergeant who with a few others were manning the station with 
a skeleton crew while everybody else was patrolling the streets or 
headed up to the ski resort as backup.Craig told the Desk sergeant 
that two more units had arrived and was wondering if it was ok to 
approach the ski resort.The desk sergeant said absolutely not i have 
at least ten more units on their way up there and i dont want any of 
you going anywhere closer until every one of them is there.Craig said 
yes sir.Craig was about to put up the radio's microphone when the 
desk sergeant started giving him instrutions.The desk sergeant said 
that once the ten units got there they were to head up to the ski 
resort but they were not to get within five thousand yards of it nor 
walk around looking for evidence.Craigh said why not sir.The desk 
sergeant said because some of you my trample on evidence we might 
need.Craig said sir how are we supposed to know if something is going 
on inside the ski resort if we cant approach it.The desk sergeant 
said you will just have to wait until dawn and then use binoculars to 
try and see if anything is happening.Craig said yes sir and then he 
put the microphone down.

Craig climbed out of the landrover and after walking to the six 
other constables he told them what the Desk sergeant had told 
them.Two of the constables started grumbling but a constable who was 
the guys' partner said the desk sergeant doesnt want us trampling 
over any evidence so we will do as he said.

Several hours later Craig was awakened by one of the constables and 
he said the sun's coming up.Craig climbed out of the landrover and he 
joined the constables who had the second watch while others like him 
could get some sleep and be ready for whatever occured in the 
morning.Craig pulled out a pair of binoculars and he looked up at the 
ski resort with them like several other constables started to do.One 
of the constables to his right said i dont see anything 
suspicious.Craig said you might now but i do and the constable said 
what are you talking about there is no one anyone in sight.Another 
constable said i believe thats what Craig is talking about because 
there should be at least a few people walking around who want to get 
an early start on the ski trails.Craig said yes thats what i mean and 
then he screamed after seeing the body of a person laying half over a 
railing on the second floor.The constables all looked at Craig and 
said whats wrong Craig handed his binoculars to the senior constable 
present and he pointed at the balcony railing before running back to 
the landrover to call the desk sergeant via the radio and let him 
know their worst fears were true.

The desk sergeant immedietly picked up the phone while still 
listening to Craig over the radio and he dailed the number for the 
station in Brampton.The Captain who had told the operator that any 
call from Orangeville was to be put straight through to his office 
picked up the phone right after the first ring.The Captain said is it 
or isnt it before the desk sergeant could say anything.The desk 
sergeant said it is and then the Captain cursed before hanging up the 
phone.The captain dialed the number for the Commander of Ontario's 
RCMP and he only had to wait about ten seconds before the phone was 
picked up.The Commander said Commander Thurston speaking.The Captain 
said sir we are going to need those people at the ski resort how soon 
can you get them up there.Commander Thurston said i will have them up 
there within the next two hours but the special forensics team might 
need access to the equipment that your former team had.The commander 
said i will have the trailers sent up there immedietly and the 
captain said good.

An hour and thirty nine minutes later three helicopters landed one 
at a time about three hundred feet from the edge of the clearing 
which was where the constables had stopped their vechicles.The three 
S.I.R. teams quickly got out of the helicopters and then they helped 
the members of the special forensics team that had been quickly 
assmbled get their gear out of the helicopters.Two of the S.I.R. 
teams immedietly seperated and started walking around the edge of the 
clearing and each of them were wearing snowshoes so they wouldnt 
leave much of a track or disturb any evidence they might come 
upon.The third S.I.R went up toward the ski resort with the special 
forensics team after the special forensics team had put on snowshoes 
that had been brought for them.

As they were approaching an entrance to the ski resort they all 
caught the smell assoicated with dead bodies.Natalie said well we 
definitely have several dead bodies around here and before i can 
allow anyone to go inside we need to on proper medical gear.The 
leader of the S.I.R. team said i am afraid me and my mean dont have 
any such gear.Dr.Mitchels said yes you do its in that case that came 
was in the helicopter i was aboard.The leader looked at two of his 
men and he sent them to go get the case.Natalie and the other members 
of the forensics team opened up the totebags they were given and put 
on their medical gear which contained medical scrubs,infection 
control suits,an airmask with small airtank attached,and several 
reserve airtanks in each of the tote bags.The leader of the S.I.R. 
team said is all of that stuff really neccessary.Dr.Addams said yes 
it is because we dont know what killed these people and until we do 
its better to be safe than sorry.The next moment the radio that 
Lieutenant Forrest who was the leader of the S.I.R. team with the 
forensics team beeped.Lieutenant Forrest said go ahead and he was 
told that there were several snowmobile tracks heading away from the 
ski resort.Lieutenant Forrest asked how old the tracks were and he 
was told at least several days old but they hadnt been covered by new 
snow so at the most they could only be two days old.

Once the S.I.R. and forensics team were suited up they entered the 
ski resort together.Several of both the forensics and S.I.R. got sick 
to their stomach after seeing a pile of bodies stacked one on top of 
another.Natalie walked over to the pile of bodies and after looking 
at several of them she stood up and said well i can honestly say that 
what happened here wasnt caused by any disease.Lieutenant Forrest 
said how can you be so sure of that you only looked at a few of 
them.Natalie said because several of these people either have broken 
limbs,their throats ripped out,or a hole in their chest.Lieutenant 
Forrest had to fight back the urge to run outside and 
throwup.Dr.Mitchels said i have to agree with Dr.Lambert's prognosis 
because of whats in the next room and then he walked outside,took off 
his airmask and threw up everything that was in his stomach.Natalie 
and Lieutenant Forrest walked into the next room and they were both 
horrified by what they saw.On each wall there were at least two 
people staked to the wall.Natalie said whoever did this is a 
monster.Lieutenant said i must correct you Dr.Lambert the group that 
did this are monsters.Dr.Lambert looked at him for a second and then 
she said your right of course there is no way this could be the work 
of just one person.Natalie said please excuse me Lieutenant Forrest i 
need to get to work so will you please have the trailers brought up 
right outside the ski lodge and then have a couple of the bodies 
moved into the trailer i will be using.Lieutenant Forrest said i will 
see to it immedietly

Natalie walked outside and after taking off her airmask she pulled 
out her cellular phone and dialed the number for Nick's warehouse 
home.Nick answered the phone on the thired ring because he hadnt been 
able go get to sleep yet.Nick said hello Nick Knight speaking.Natalie 
said Nick said its me and i need to talk to you.Nick said how are you 
doing.Nat said physically i am fine but i am really scared but what i 
have seen of the few bodies i have done a quick examination of.Nick 
said why are you scared of what you have seen on the bodies.Natalie 
said Nick six of the bodies i checked either had bite marks on their 
necks,their throats ripped out,and even a hole in the chest of one 
body that is missing a heart.Nick jumped to his feet upon hearing 
about the bite marks and the ripped out throat and he said Natalie 
are you sure of this.Natalie said yes i am Nick and i dont know what 
to do.Nick said how many bodies do you think are up there.Natalie 
said at least sixty and several of them were staked to the wall 
somehow in one of the rooms.Nick cursed and he said Nat you did the 
right thing calling me but now i have to hang up and start making 
some phone calls of my own.Natalie said Nick i dont know how i am 
going to cover this up because everyone on the forensics team are 
very good at their jobs and i have to be very carefull about what i 
do.Nick said i know and the best thing you can do presently is do 
what your supposed to we will figure something out later and he said 
he would call back later on and then he hung up the phone.

Nick immedietly called the raven and let the phone ring for over ten 
minutes until Lacroix got tired of listening to it and answered 
it.Lacroix in an angry voice said we are closed and was about to hang 
up when Nick said Lacroix we have big trouble that could easily 
endanger the community.Lacroix chuckled and he said what could 
possibly endanger the community i have heard nothing that could make 
me believe that we might have trouble.Nick said thats because a 
massacre at a ski lodge was just discovered this morning.Lacroix said 
how can a massacre at a ski lodge possibly threaten the 
community.Nick said according to Natalie who went up there as a 
member of a special forensic team six of the bodies she did a quick 
lookover bear the signs of being attacked by vampires.Nick had 
Lacroix attention now and Lacroix said what exactly did Natalie tell 
you.Nick said six of the bodies she did a quick look over had either 
bite marks on their neck,their throats ripped out,and one body even 
had his heart removed.Lacroix cursed in ancient Roman and he said did 
she say anything else.Nick said she did say that there were several 
bodies staked to the wall in one of the rooms.Lacroix said Nick call 
her back and find out if she can tell exactly how the bodies are 
staked to the wall and with what.Nick said Lacroix you know 
something.Lacroix said several decades ago i heard of a vampire who 
staked his victims out with railroad spikes but he isnt one of us he 
is a demon vampire.Nick said it doesnt matter what type of vampire he 
is what matters is that he might expose the community.Lacroix said 
for once my son you are right he must be dealt with and quickly.Nick 
said Lacroix we have another problem Natalie is working with others 
and she doesnt believe she can completely cover up some of the 
evidence.Lacroix said do not worry i shall contact the enforcers and 
arrange for them to pay the other members of the forensic team a 
visit and make them forget that what is neccessary.Nick said Lacroix 
the enforcers could consider Natalie a threat to the 
community.Lacroix said do not worry about Natalie i have it from a 
reliable source within the enforcers that Natalie hasnt been 
considered a threat since she helped us by finding the cure to the 
plague that was running rampant through the community.Nick said 
thanks for telling me that Lacroix.Lacroix said your welcome but i 
suggest you keep that knowledge from her so she wont get smartmouthed 
with the enforcers that are sent to handle the situation.Nick said i 
will call Nat right back and find out about how the bodies were 
staked and then call you.Lacroix said call me on my radio line i will 
be using the other one to call those who also need to be informed of 
the situation.

Nick called Natalie's cellular phone and she answered it as quickly 
as she could.Natalie said hello and Nick said Nat i need you do do me 
one favor.Natalie said what do you need me to do.Nick said i need you 
to go back into the room where the bodies are staked to the wall and 
try to determine what they were staked to the wall with.Natalie said 
why and Nick said i cant take the time to explain it in detail so i 
will just say that what the bodies are staked with might give us a 
clue to the perps identity and we need to find out that badly.Natalie 
said ok hold on and then she walked back into the ski resort.Natalie 
went into the rooms the bodies were staked up on the wall and she 
examined one of the stakes that had been hammered through a guys 
leg.Natalie walked back outside and she said from what they look like 
to me i would say they are giant cast iron nails.Nick said Nat is 
there a chance they could be railroad spikes instead of nails.Natalie 
thought a second remebering something from her childhood and she said 
Nick thats exactly what they are but how did you know.Nick said 
Lacroix had an idea of who is responsible but he wasnt sure so he got 
me to ask you.Nick said i love you and by the way you can expect a 
visit by enforcers tonight but dont worry they are coming to 
investigate for themselves and do what is neccessary to cover up the 
evidence that you cannot.Natalie said am i in any danger and Nick 
said you wont be if you work with them especially since it was you 
who alerted us to the danger of the community's possible exposure.

Nick called Lacroix back but this time on his radio line and Lacroix 
answered it immedietly.Lacroix said what did the dear doctor have to 
say.Nick said you were right Lacroix they were staked to the wall 
with iron railroad spikes.Lacroix said well that definitely tells us 
who is responsible now all we have to do is find out where the hell 
he is.Nick said Lacroix i dont think whoever this is is working alone 
because no one vampire can keep sixty or more people from trying to 
flee.Lacroix said sixty people and Nick said that was the estimate 
Natalie told me but it could be higher or lower and we wont know 
until later tonight when Natalie calls me back.
