FIC: Destiny's End 1/?

Well, the world is at war, people are using bioweapons, and I'm working ultra 
long hours doing my bit in the war on terror. So what better time than to 
finish my series "Destiny's End". I'll post the first 4 parts today, then I 
should be able to get one part a week out after that (depending on what Osama 
bin Laden does). Feedback is a must, it helps me get through sleep 
deprivation writing when I should be sleeping. I'm also working on an NC-17 
interlude to "Destiny's End" which you can ask for when I've finished it.

SUMMARY: Final in Terra/Trinity/Destiny series. Buffy, Willow, Xander face 
the final battle. The battle to end destiny. Sequel to Terra Australis 
Incognito, and Trinity's Child. 
SPOILERS: None really. AU. 
RATING: R (suggested sexual situations [no smut]) and language (if I lived on 

the Hellmouth I'd swear more too). 
AUTHORS NOTES: The descriptions in the first part are taken (partly) from 
Larry Niven's "Lucifer's Hammer". I just upped the devastation a bit. A good 
movie to watch an asteroid strike is "Deep Impact". 

Destiny's End 1/?

The impacts of the asteroid cloud make the Earth ring like a struck 
bell, triggering massive earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis along tectonic 
plate edges. Billions die in the first few minutes from the earthquakes and 
volcanic eruptions. The earthquake generated tsunamis take longer to arrive 
and only make things worse when the impact generated waves arrive. 

Craters glow across the face of the Earth. The sea strikes glow as 
brightly as the land strikes; but the sea strikes are growing smaller. Walls 
of water hover around them, edging inwards. 

The waters hover 3 miles high around the deep ocean strikes. The edges 
boil frantically. The pressure of the expanding live steam holds back the 
walls of water. 

The hot vapour goes up in a column, carrying salt from the vaporised 
seawater and rock from the earth's crust below the ocean. At the limits of 
the Earth's atmosphere it begins to spread in an expanding whirlpool. 
Megatons of live steam begin to cool. 

A wave rushes outward from the Gulf of Mexico strike at 800 miles an 
hour. When it reaches the shallows along the coast of Texas and Louisiana, 
the foot of the wave stumbles. More and more water rushes up behind, piling 
higher and higher until a towering monster a mile high falls forward and 
flows up on the land. 

Houston, New Oleans, Tampa, Miami and Havana all vanish underneath the 
waves. Florida becomes a series of islands cut by channels by the Gulf of 
Mexico strike. The channels are widened by the arrival of the Atlantic 
strikes. 

A surge of water heads up the Mississippi, drowning the lands around 
it. It is 150 feet above flood level when it passes Memphis, Tennessee. 

Towering walls of water sweep along the Atlantic Ocean from the strike 
there. On the east coast of the United States, the westward travel of the 
waves are stopped only when they reach the Appalachian Mountains. Nothing 
lives east of the mountains. 

A similar story is repeated in Europe, South America, and Africa. 

The Indian Ocean strike sends waves smashing into the east coast of 
Africa, the west coast of Australia, the Persian Gulf, the Indonesian 
islands, and India. 

Waves sweep across the lowlands of southern India, then, focused by 
the narrowing Bay of Bengal, regains much of its strength and height as it 
breaks into the swamplands of Bangladesh. It smashes northward through 
Calcutta and Dhaka. The waters finally come to a halt at the foot of the 
Himalayas, where they are met by the floods pouring out of the Ganges Valley. 

As the waters recede, the sacred Ganges is choked with bodies. 

The Pacific Ocean strikes send waves crashing into the coasts along 
the Pacific rim. The islands of the South Pacific, Japan and South East Asia; 

already devastated by earthquake, tsunamis and volcanoes; are drowned beneath 

the massive waves. In Australia, everything east of the Great Dividing Range 
is scoured clean. 

Where strikes occurred, massive hurricanes and typhoons form. As they 
travel, they spawn tens of thousands of tornadoes and together they add to 
the devastation. 

Cubic miles of water have been vaporised, and rain clouds encircle the 
Earth. Rain falls in biblical proportions causing even more devastation with 
burst dams and massive flooding. 

As the rain falls across the Earth, more steam rises from the hot seas 
and lands near the strikes; with the water goes salt, soil, and rock dust. 
Volcanoes send more billions of tons of smoke and dust into the stratosphere. 

The Earth begins to resemble a brilliant pearl. The Earth's albedo has 
changed. More of the Sun's heat and light are reflected back into space, 
cooling the planet dramatically. Snow begins to fall. 

A new Ice Age has begun.

The steady beat of his heart was the first thing that registered in 
Xander's mind. Slowly sensation came back into his body. He opened his eyes 
and saw the blurred outlines of two beautiful women in white above him. 

"Wow. Angels." Xander muttered, barely recognising his own voice. 

"Not quite, Xander." a familiar voice said. Xander sat up, blinking 
and shaking his head. When he looked again he saw Buffy and Willow who where 
dressed in white robes similar to his own. 

"Guys!" he said and the three of them came together in a group hug. 
After a few minutes they let go of each other. 

"Where are we?" Xander asked. The room they were in looked kind of 
like a hospital room with three beds and some kind of monitoring equipment in 

the corner. 

"No idea. We only woke up just before you did." Willow said. Just 
then the door opened and a middle aged man entered the room. 

"Ahhh! Good to see you three finally awake." he told them. His accent 
was strange but somehow familiar. 

"Where are we and where's our daughter?" asked Buffy. 

"I know you have a lot of questions but they will be answered in good 
time." the man said reassuringly. It didn't work. 

"Where is our daughter?" Buffy insisted as she approached the man. 

"Like I said, all in good time." he said, backing up somewhat 
nervously at the approaching Slayer. Buffy snapped and pinned him up against 
the wall. She spoke in a low and dangerous voice. 

"I want to see my daughter. Now." Buffy hissed. There was fear in the 
man's eyes now. 

"You can't." he told her. 

"Why not?" Buffy said, menace dripping from every word. 

"Because... because... Today is August 6, 4221. Your daughter has been 
dead for over 2000 years."
