Spike may think it's love, but I think he's
confusing love with lust. I'm not sure what
Joss's intentions are with Spike, but I do know
that even people with souls get the two
confused--my ex-spouse being one of them. And
I'm not saying this out of bitterness or
anything, I just have firsthand experience seeing
my ex bounce from person to person, always
telling people that this is THE one--then later
it becomes obvious it wasn't. Now, if this can
happen with someone who supposedly has a soul,
then I think a soulless creature like Spike is
definitely just acting on lust and confusing it
with love.
