Are you forgetting hear tiraid regarding the treatment of Native Americans? 
As for the Magik usage and the 'turning evil', I think what we are seeing 
here is a bit of 'The path to hell is paved with good intentions'. Willow 
has begun to find it easier to rely on just her magik powers, and having done 
some MAJOR spells she is feeling that minor spells are no big deal. Her 
wanting to shift everyone at the dance club off to a parallel dimension for 
'just a few secs' (exteremly risky shortcuts) rather than just simply keep 
looking (harder, boring and no risk) is indicative of someone who is not 
thinking of SAFETY.

Why not? Being in a fight with someone or having someone upset at you is an 
unpleasant situation. Willow is in the thrall of 'Better living through 
magik'.

Frankly the worst thing about this episode is the stupidity displayed by 
Dawn. She knows about Sunnydale, vampires and demons, yet she goes out on a 
date with a boy she doesn't know? There are no boys at her high school she 
could be dating? What about that boy in the art class in "The Body"? The is 
a difference between being a 'rebelious teen' and abject stupidity.
