I agree with Kirayoshi on this. Spike was a great
villain when he first appeared on the show, and still
hasn't been topped in my opinion. I don't like the
direction that he's been taking ever since mid-way
through season 5. 

However, he did prove that he does still have that
evil side that we all loved in him when he thought
that his chip had shorted out. He is still a killer,
and is still evil, whatever the Buffy/Spike shippers
might say to the contrary. Like most people here, I'm
hoping that his chip will short out sometime this
season, so we can see the real "Big Bad" back in
action once again.
