As far as Spike always being the big bad, everything changes, if it 
didn't the first episode would be about the only one. No changes is 
the main reason the X-files degenerated into a third rate monster 
mash. Let him evolve if he has to. Personally I always thought 
Angel and Buffy seemed kinda forced.
