Re: (REPOST) FF: Painted on My Heart
Arimis,
I guess I missed this one the first time through. Thanks for the
repost. I liked it.
And we've got another entry for the "Willow and Buffy Songs" thread over
at JAABAW. Cool.
Yeah, I think Buffy had to feel betrayed by the whole Tara thing, too.
"A girl who isn't me". You'd like to think that, interested or not,
you'd still be first on her list. (Of course, what Buffy doesn't
understand is that she IS--Will's just too chicken to mention it.)
And there is an explanation for Parker (aside from the fact that he was
a lot more charming than Riley, so who can blame her? Except that she
rushed things and didn't take time to find out it was just an
act)--it's in the shooting script for "The Harsh Light of Day", in the
final scene where Buffy is talking to Willow:
Buffy: "The whole time, I was thinking, hey, look at me with someone
who isn't Angel. Look how much I'm not thinking about Angel. Look how
this isn't all about Angel."
Typical rebound thing, trying to prove a point to herself. From a B/W
p.o.v., she wanted to prove that her feelings for Willow weren't just an
outgrowth of the Angel-missage; if she could move on to Parker and
still love Willow, she'd know it was real.
Or, alternatively, she was lying, and she jumped Parker to keep herself
away from Willow (who's in a very happy, stable, LTR with Oz, and
probably always will be, because Willow is straight and she doesn't need
her kinky best friend hitting on her). So maybe she wasn't really lying
after all, and she was using Parker to get over Angel--because with
Angel gone it was getting harder and harder to control herself around
the redhead.
You did notice she didn't feel the need to sleep with another guy (and a
Jewish guy at that) until AFTER Willow moved in with her, right? That
"Angel-missage" suddenly got a lot more intense when there was an
innocent, straight, all-too-tempting friend in the other bed, I bet.
Hey, why do you think they weren't rooming together to begin with?
"N-no, Will, I think it'll be too insular if we're together 24/7; we
should meet new people, not just spend all out time with each other.
That's what college is all about, right?"
"Welllll?I guess so. But I'll still see you, right?"
"Oh, yeah, definitely. Definitely definitely."
More I think about it, the more it seems like Miss Slayer didn't really
trust herself?
Okay, that's another ramble (yes, Will, side-to-side). Hitting "send"
now.
Dan
