Very well said, and much quicker than I've been able to type my massive
reply on the subject. (Which I'll finish and post anyway.)

But the extremely short version is: Faith, if you didn't enjoy
corresponding with Anne-Lise, don't correspond with Anne-Lise. If you
don't like the cartoon, don't read the cartoon. These issues should be
separate from each other, and neither should affect your relationship
with the list and with the other members in the slightest. 

And for both parties involved (and keeping in mind that I have no idea
about and make no judgment on the actual correspondence) : no matter
how justified you feel, always think before saying something in anger.
It very rarely helps the conversation.
